Guest guest
Hi Now to something more interesting to discuss: yoga journals. Is there any directed to tantra (in english) worth subscribing to? Or, if you are short on money, read on library. Regards Lars

I am unaware of any yoga journals oriented specifically towards Tantra, but then, I have never looked for one.... In the past I have d to two (hatha) yoga journals. Both have content available online, so you don't even need to go to the library :-) I like both magazines, and think they're really fairly similar. I think that reflects the market. Neither are expensive for me (domestic postage); I think both are worth what I've paid for them. I think I like Yoga International a bit more, but both magazines seem fine to me. Yoga Journal http://www.yogajournal.com/ Yoga International http://www.yimag.org/ published by the Himalayan Institute http://www.himalayaninstitute.org/ Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, of the Himalayan Institute, has taught Tantra workshops. He has a column in the magazine where he translates and provides commentary on a yoga sutra each month. I don't recall anything similar in the Yoga Journal. Guest guest
Yoga Journal had Linda Johnsen (author of "Complete Idiot's Guide to Hinduism") on staff a few years ago, and she wrote some interesting beginner's articles on Shakti worship. (Despite the stupid title, Johnsen is a good writer.) But I haven't seen the magazine in several years. There was a Tantra Magazine out over a decade ago, but it only published for a few issues. Any mass-market zine advertizing "Tantra" is likely to be talking about improving one's sex life, and not about mysticism or spirituality. Most Westerners hear "Tantra" and think, "Oooh, sex!" Most Hindus hear "Tantra" and think "Ay! Black magic!" I liked Dr. Robert Svoboda's trilogy of "Aghora" books as an intro to some real Tantric knowledge. -- Len/ Kalipadma --- msbauju <msbauju wrote: > , Lars Hedström > <lars@2...> > wrote: > > > > Now to something more interesting to discuss: yoga > journals. > > > > Is there any directed to tantra (in english) worth > subscribing to? > > I am unaware of any yoga journals oriented > specifically towards > Tantra, but then, I have never looked for one.... > > In the past I have d to two (hatha) yoga > journals.
