Guest guest
Bhairavi :- Wife of Bhairava ie Paramasiva. Or, Bhairava, all women taken collectively [bhiru, women] The linga Pr. says, "Meaning is Siva, words are Devi; day is Siva and night is Devi". From that - after describing Arundhari, AnasUyA, Saci, the wife of Indra, etc, each as the manifestation of Devi, thus concludes : "All things indicated by the words in the feminine gender are manifestation of Devi" Or in the TripurAcakresvari-mantra, in the middle division, when R is eliminated, it is known as Bhairavi-mantra. Or according to Dhaumya, a girl of twelve years old is called Bhairavi. BhAskararAya's Commentary Translated into English by R. Ananthakrishna Sastry. Guest guest
Dr. Suryanarayanamurthy notes in his 1962 LS commentary: "Bhairavi is the spouse of Bhairava, the form of Rudra in his aspect as Destroyer." Relative to msbauju's query, he adds: "Bhairavi is also the name [applied to] a lady Guru in Tantrika Sadhana." Bhairavi is also, of course, is a particularly terrifying vision of Devi among the Ten Mahavidyas, as this photo illustrates: http://www.shaktisadhana.org/Photo%20Gallery/Bhairavi/bhairavi1.html Hope that helps DB , "NMadasamy" <nmadasamy@s...> wrote: > > Bhairavi :- Wife of Bhairava ie Paramasiva. > > Or, Bhairava, all women taken collectively [bhiru, women] > The linga Pr. says, "Meaning is Siva, words are Devi; day is Siva and > night is Devi".
