I know that yoga and meditation have helped me enormously, and sex had nothing to do with that. And I continue my spiritual growth in lots of ways, taking ideas not only from shatiism but also from Sumerian, European, and Native American beliefs. Maybe I did not mention that I am working on a master's degree in comparative religion at a major US university. So this is my vocation as well as my own spiritual growth process. I know a lot more than you seem to think I do. Yvonne
Guest guest
good!! If u know more, use it. But please do not think that the "comparitive religion" (in Browns - isn't it?) taught by americans in american universities is the "ultimate". I know this comparitive religion prof. in Harvard who thinks he is the ulimate authority and will not discuss. And the impression I got is much different. Odd for a so call master's student. A lot of things you said about yourself to me does not make sense. Master student would ask "are the men slaves to the women?" thing! ... That is all I can say. When somebody said "I know a lot more than you seem to think" it clearly shows to me that she/he really does not know anything.
Guest guest
> good!! If u know more, use it. Sure, if I have time. But I am very busy. My reason for joining this list was to learn the bits I don't know rather than to try to teach you guys what I know. I am sure you guys know more about this stuff than I do. >But please do not think that the "comparitive religion" (in Browns - isn't it?) taught by americans in american universities is the "ultimate". I know this comparitive religion prof. in Harvard who thinks he is the ulimate authority and will not discuss. I think I know who you mean. I hate people like that. I know that if you want to understand what Indians believe, you have to ask an Indian and get it first hand. Precisely why I want to travel to India. I wanted to be there right now but I don't have enough money. Besides, lots of people told me that it is way too dangerous for an American chick to be traveling alone in Asia right now. Anti-American sentiment and all that. Hey, I hate Bush as much as anybody else, even spent a month campaigning against him last year, but sometimes people make quick assumptions about others. India is NOT a muslim counry and Indians do not target americans. Let alone anyone else. OK? I would be more concerned about her being a girl travelling in India by herself then the fact that she is an American. There is some issue with "eve-teasing" and the west especially the USA seems to have a reputation for being a very licentious -anything goes kind of place. This of course is exageration, but I found that in Calcutta and in other places I visited people have these kind of ideas because of our movies mostly. I often had to talk to people to get these ideas out of their head as if you can walk down an American street, grab anyone and have sex with them! I got into it once with some Bengali boys who insisted that sex was easily obtainable and told me they knew it was true because they have seen our films! My reply was something like "OK, so does this mean that in India people suddenly burst into fits of sychronized dancing in the streets?" Nah, I do not think so ;-) well except maybe for Puja Seriously though, being an American is not a problem in India, but being in a large very different foreign country can be a bit dangerous for anyone who isn't quite prepared so I would recommend going with a friend or visitng friends there if you can. Guest guest
This is vilest propaganda imaginable. India is NOT a muslim counry and Indians do not target americans. Let alone anyone else. OK? I think there is more danger in walking in NYC than in India. Wha I have seen is americans targetting Indians and not vice versa *smile* Whoever told you this - hope they are not your teachers - if so run fast and far ASP They know nothing. Guest guest
> This is vilest propaganda imaginable. India is NOT a muslim counry and > Indians do not target americans. Let alone anyone else. OK? Sorry. I did not mean to insult anybody. Information that I have says that it is dangerous to travel anywhere this year. The situation in the Middle East is probably going to get worse, in which case nobody is safe anywhere. > I got into it once with some Bengali boys who insisted that sex was easily > obtainable and told me they knew it was true because they have seen our films! American movies also show aliens from outer space blowing up entire planets. If there is one thing in the world I know how to handle, it is boys wanting sex. Don't worry about me on that. >I would recommend going with a friend or visitng friends > there if you can. Probably a good idea. Thanx.
