Meaning:

As the Eldest, One Who was earlier than the world(s);

One Who creates everything systematically;

As the Hailed One Who became (all) the seven worlds;

As Blissful One Who removes the distress;

As the Protector One Who sees everything;

By look One Who emptied the ill-deeds of, me, the

strong-deed-afflicted;

Oh the Lord of thiruccORRuththuRai, Shining Light,

oh shiva, I am Your refugee!!

 

Notes:

1. This song beautifully summarizes the creation of

the world.

The God stands as the Eldest with no worlds in

existence.

In a systematic way (though in a play still in a just

way)

providing the souls bodies, instruments, worlds and

wealth

according to the nature (karma) of the soul;

In the world created God resided everywhere still

stood as the Lord of things. (c.f. shrI rudram).

The purpose of all this exercise is, being the

Blissful One,

out of Its grace wanted to remove the distress of the

souls.

It guides the system thus created, but without getting

lost in the process but viewing the whole show.

When there occurs removal of filth (again by the

guidance

of Grace) It blesses and appears as the Splendor

and Ultimate shiva. In That God we take refuge!
