The one Brahman assumed two forms, namely attributes [dharma] and

the possessor of them, again attributes become two, namely male and

female, the male is Visnu who is the material cause of the whole

universe : the female became the spouse of Paramasiva. The secret of

the Saive theory is that these three in combination become the one

indivisible Brahman. This theory is well mentioned in the Kurma and

other Puranas and is explained in detail in the RatnatrayapariksA by

Appayadiksita. The Brahma Pr. In the Purusottamaksetra-MahAtmya

says, "SubhadrA, who was born from the w omb of MenakA in a

former

birth, in this birth was born along with Krsna of Devaki."

"Let

there be victory to Visnu, the husband of SubhadrA," there

SubhadrA,

is Laksmi and there is no contradiction, or, in reality there is no

difference. In another place, "BrahmA, the grandsire of all the

worlds in order to see Devi, once performed a severe penance in the

sacred KANci; TripurA, standing on a lotus, having a lotus in her

hand, with her victorious brother appeared to the ascetic,

performing the severe penance, fixed in meditation on the higher

self.

Or this contains the Vagbhave [first] division of KadividyA

[PaNcadasi], PadmAsana [278] indicates the syllable ka; bhaga, e,

and vati [279] KamakAla [ie], PadmanAbha, sa and hoda, ha and m and

ri make hrim. This is the secret meaning.
