How is this related to Shakti? That is to say, how is the goddess in her

different forms related to strife, wars, battles etc.??

I know the story of the Devi Mahatmyam well and the epic battle that Durga

wages against the demon Mahishasura, but does anybody know of other myths, or

places to look where the goddess is associated with battles?? I am curious....

By the way, the story of the Devi Mahatmyam is great and I recommend it to

anyone who hasn't read it in any translation you can find! I've heard scholars

mention that it is the "first" official introduction of Ma Kali, but I don't

believe this to be true at all unless my copy of the Shiva Purana is wrongly

translated! She appears there a few times although as far as I have gotten

(about

1200 pages) she doesn't take on too much of a critical role.

Well I mostly interpret scripture in terms of how it is affecting me

internally and the metaphors relate to that, but the living manifestation is

also

quite fascinating! I am in the process of moving right now so all my books are

backe, but I do believe I have a Devi Gita somewhere.....I think the English

translation is by a woman named rachel Mcdermott, but I could be wrong.

I know quite a bit about Athene, but am not familiar with Morrigan (celtic)

and Cihuacaotyl, who I am guessing is Aztec.

Namaste,

you may also enjoy the Devi Gita.

Are you only wondering about Devi as the Goddess or other Goddesses of War? For

example there is the Morrigan, Athena and Cihuacaotyl.

Just curious.
