Guest guest
Hi, I have the following questions and would appreciate those who have knowledge in this area to help me: 1. Can a beginner and uninitiated person (like me) keep a Sri Yantra at home (like an Yantra inscribed in a copper plate etc.)? 2. Is there any special place and/or ritual necessary for its installation? 3. Once installed is there any daily puja/ritual necessary? If yes, what are they? 4. Anything else I need to know about this and have not asked. Thanks in advance. Regards, Ram Background: =========== I see that there are various websites that tell of differing rituals necessary to keep a Sri Yantra at home. Some say 'You can just keep it' and some say you have to perform a particular ritual on a particular day (Wed/Fri) to keep it. Some say keep it in a red cloth and some say keep it in a yellow cloth. Some sites say once you keep it you have to do puja everyday and others say there is no need of this. Some web sites even say that keeping the Sri Yantra without properly following the rituals can even cause ill effects. There is even a reference in Shakthi Sadhana Website (Forums, A conversation about Sri Vidya, Part 1 & 2) , a conversation between DB and a VS guru who says you should not keep it anywhere other than the puja place and that it is 'finicky' and it is better to use something else. Guest guest
Namaste, Her_Asha: Regarding your questions: *** 1. Can a beginner and uninitiated person (like me) keep a Sri Yantra at home (like an Yantra inscribed in a copper plate etc? This question arose before in regard to a Sri Meru Charkra, which is simply the three-dimensional form of Sri Yantra. The advice amounted to a warning not to HAVE a Sri Meru Chakra unless you intend to USE it, and -- maybe more importantly -- unless you're QUALIFIED to use it. As one knowledgeable upasak put it, "make sure you're ready before you go for the high-voltage appliances!" For full account, see: /message/9992 *** 2. Is there any special place and/or ritual necessary for its installation? *** Yes. See here: http://www.shaktisadhana.org/Resource/Messageboard/MessageBoard8.html *** 3. Once installed is there any daily puja/ritual necessary? If yes, what are they? *** See caveats in reply to question 1. With all that in mind, the Khadgamala Stotram is hard to beat: http://shaktisadhana.50megs.com/Khadgamala.html **** 4. Anything else I need to know about this and have not asked. *** Yes, volumes. Stick around and you'll pick up a lot of it here. There are a lot of knowledgeable members. Some good conversations have been archived on the homepage; but much has not yet been archived -- it will be done eventually, but for now you just have to poke around and find the buried treasures. You can find some good information in books, and some on the Web (among a lot of junk in both mediums). But none of it is going to help you much or even make much sense without some degree of initiation and guidance from a qualified guru. Practice Khadgamala, cultivate bhakti, and all that will come to you when the time is ripe.
