Guest guest
Namaste, everyone. I am new to this shakti sadhana group. I follow primarily Vaishnava sadhanas & chant the Vishnu sahasranama almost everyday. But however, i have had the good fortune of being initiated into some of these Sri Vidya sadhanas like chanting of Kadghamala and Lalitha Sahasranama. I have been chanting the Lalitha sahasranama everyday for about 30 days now. After about 1-2 weeks, I noticed that no mosquitos would bite me even when they are biting others. This has continued on to this day. Has anyone had such an experience after chanting some Shakti mantras? Also, after about the 2nd week, I left my home in a residential area of Georgia, and came back only to find a huge 6 foot long, 4 inch diameter, beautiful, blue-black, shiny snake, with white underbelly laying in direct sunshine in the middle of my front yard. He was facing the street, and as i drove up it looked like a crooked danda in my yard. When I got out of the car and discovered what it was, it raised it head as if to give me darshan, then moved backed towards my house and disappeared. Everyone I speak to about this seems to believe it is a divine occurrence, and associated with my sadhana. What do you all think about this? Although a Vaishnava and initiated into that path, I heard that it benefits one to chant the Lalitha sahasranam as it mitigates mistakes committed during sadhana. Guest guest
Interesting experiences, JB. Welcome to the group. I am not able to make out the (spiritual) message of the experiences you have narrated. Nebertheless, you being initiated in LSN and KS indicates that SHE loves you. In general, VSN can be chanted to attain Worldly benefits and LSN is for spritual benefits (as said in the introduction to LSN). As for the experiences themselves, consult your Guru, who initiated you into LSN for their meanings. There is always a message in them. If one is not able to explain to you, keep on chanting and you will learn of the message some how (Yes, some how.....for you will be surprised how the answers find you!). All the best. , John Butler III <lightdweller> wrote: > Namaste, everyone. > > I am new to this shakti sadhana group. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I like to take this opportunity to share my own personal experience which happen about few days ago. I left my hand carried bag in a taxi. The bag consists of my passport, a Cheque [all signed but with no name or amount as yet] for the woman aid organization, some money and other important documents. When I discover of the lost, my first reaction was: oh! Well, what to do. Who ever found that cheque and passport must be a very lucky person today? My concern is more for my passport as I have planned to go back over the weekend to visit my father who is ill. Just when I thought that it!… the security guard called me and said "Ma'am, can you please come down here". To my surprise the security guard handed me the lost bag. Said the taxi driver came, hand the bag to him thereafter left without leaving any contact number or his identity. All my things are in the bag. Nothing missing. I have read many times in the papers people complains about the Malaysian Taxi driver [of how horrible and terrible they are], but this incident tells me that out there, there are many kind souls. Honest and sincere. About several months ago, I left my moneybag, which consist of membership fees in a shopping center. As usual I was concern but not upset. Perhaps the money is meant for somebody else who is really in need, I thought to myself. I went on with my meeting with my staff as usual. Then suddenly something came into my mind: why don't you see the security officer of the Shopping Mall. And I did. And there it was my moneybag. Found by the cleaning lady. Not a single dollar was missing. Surprised yes! Astonished yes! Well somebody might ask: what's the big deal. To me it is a big deal. These people have no reasons to give those things they have found back but they did. That act it self is an honorable and divine. I prayed to DEVI that SHE reward these noble souls accordingly especially in their time of needs. I have learnt from this experience too: that if you want to do good or do your Sadhana without asking anything in return, you will be rewarded accordingly when you least expected it. From Shakti Sadhana perspective [ as I understand ], we see everything around us DIVINE. Every occurence as Divine in nature.
Guest guest
Thank you for your reply. A few things like that have also occurred with me as well. Like the time my traffic ticket was mysteriously paid when i went to court after making a prayer - entreaty for help in what I felt was unjust treatment by a crooked policeman tryting to make quota. In addition to being mysteriously paid, the ticket has since never shown up on my DMV record in 2 years since the incident. Or like the time about 1 month back, when I was driving on the expressway with my 4 year old daughter in the car, and i was getting very sleepy, closing my eyes. All of a sudden, a powerfully fragrant, deep, flowery smell came into my nostrils, having the effect as smelling salts would, thereby waking me up. Guest guest
Dear John, Such wonderful experiences clearly show the bestowal of divine grace upon you. My parama guru who was a great saint of Thiruvananthapuram, was considered to be an avatar of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. So wonderful was his radiance, that when he went out for begging (as is the dharma for sannyasins), the whole of the city used to wait to have his darshan. He possessed all the astasiddhies and was a staunch Vaishnava; anyway what he said was that the Vishnusahasranama MUST be chanted along with the Lalithasahasrama. He also said that Radharani was the embodiment of Shakti and in chanting LS, we are praying to Radharani. Guest guest
I have learnt from this experience too: that if you want to do good or do your Sadhana without asking anything in return, you will be rewarded accordingly when you least expected it. From Shakti Sadhana perspective [ as I understand ], we see everything around us DIVINE. Every occurence as Divine in nature. --\ --------------------------- This touched me. Sometimes, we atleast I see life as complicated , manytimes not knowing how to handle my surrounding, the best thing I do is to sit before her picture and simply cry this gives me relief and attimes I do ask her for favour, I donot get it immediately - I must confess that many of my wants get fulfillied. I would like to narrate one incidence. One day,I was doing my regular prayer, suddenly I felt a strong jerk and I started chanting Sahasranama twice then thrice. It nearly took more than an hour in prayer room. That evening my husband came back home feeling shattered saying that he had a very narrow escape from a car accident and the timing was also in the afternoon. I call her mother. I simply chant not knowing the meaning, and not even sure as to my pronounciation whether I am chanting right or wrong. I do read meanings posted by Madasamy, i am sorry to say that some I could follow some I can't. May be, I am an exception in this board who is unable to grasp but it doesnot bother me. I genuinely say that Lalitha Sahasranama is very powerful - it can be a guide to one's life. I still cannot understand when we call her mother OM SHRI MATRE NAMAHA - then why are we discussing her intimate private life. We donot see mother as sex symbol. Just an innocent querry- I am certainly not stuck up - I am only asking for clarification. Shakti Sadhana discusses more on Lalitha Sahasranama. I enjoy all discussions. Before, joining this group - being a Hindu doing regular prayer knew nothing about scriptures. I did prayer mechanically not knowing its meaning because it was handed down by my parents and I never questioned. To my pleasant surprise many westerner's including some Indian's know a lot and their discussions are very intellectual and lively. I thank them from the deapth of my heart to keep up their good work. Thanks raji.
