To Ms Rama and Kochu-sir specificially, and anyone else in general.

I used to find the Trishati formidable till I read Kochu-sir's

reassuring message.

I have a CD of the Trishati chant, and a book that contains the 300

verses with commentary. I will try doing that just for the love of

reciting the text. Thanks.:).

But I have 2 questions here in that regard.

1.The way it's done in the CD, it's got sections where you establish

the dieties in the limbs, eyes, ears. There are some sections where

one is supposed to clap his hands at a specific mantra.

All this looks the practices of a 'disciple' rather than that of

a 'devotee child'. which means it looks 'initiatory'. ....I want to

do the chant but not stumble into regions that I was supposed to, or

insult established practices or Devi.

you see what I am trying to say.... how do i overcome this?

2. The CD takes up to an hour because it has the prologue (Agastya-

Hayagriva samvaada), 300 verses and epilogue (phalashruti, i think,

besides others).

Is there a simpler and shorter chant that can be used on a more

regular basis? I can cut most parts and just chant the 300 verses,

but it may not be the right thing to do, and hence the request for

a 'reliably sourced' shorter text.

Jai Ma!

I have not been initiated into either Sahasranama or Trishati. I just recite

the names 1000 and 300 respectively, sometimes in raaga and sometimes as

shloka and that is mostly when I am on my way to or from work.

I just concentrate on Her before I do anything. I am a practising lawyer.

In my decade and a half of practice I have not opened my mouth once in the

court without thinking Her. I dont know if that counts as expecting

something in return. But She has been with me throughout.

Regards,

Rama
