rAmA : Woman

or, Yogins delight in her [ram=to delight]. The Linga Pr. Says, "All

men are Samkara, all Women, Devi. The names which denotes masculine

gender are said to be of Siva, and those which denote the feminine are

the manifestations of Devi. Thus Women and Men are the manifestations

of Devi and Siva.". The Visnu Pr. also says, "The Divine Hari lives in

the form of a man among Devas, animals, men etc. and in the form of

women, O Maitreya, Laksmi [lives], and there is none higher than these

[two]." The Brah. Vaivarta Pr also says, "Whatever in the three worlds

appear in the female form all that, O Devi, is thy form; thus is

declared in the scriptures." Hence the Br. ParAsara Smr, says, "As

women are pleased or displeased, so the gods also are pleased or

displeased. If they are pleased the family increase, if they are

displeased the family is spoilt."

"RAmA [means] Woman. She [Devi] is one with all women and is an

embodiment of Womanhood. That is why a devotee of SrI-VidyA must

treat every woman as his or her own mother."
