41. The good words spoken will attract good friends, relatives and

fortunes. The bad words uttered will create enmity and lead you to

suffocation. So it is always better to keep tongue under control.

42. You should be mentally prepared to listen and accept the good

words from the children, follow the good deeds of your enemy even.

43. The physically handicapped, ugly looking persons, uneducated

persons and poor people are all the creation of God. So do not neglect them if

possible try to extend your love and moral support to them.

44. If you walk along with the antisocial elements, the society will

feel you are also a member of that group, so try to keep away from them.

45. The blessings you receive from your parents and teacher are equal

to the blessings from God.

46. Beware of the persons who talk sweet in front of you and talk bad

behind you. Such persons are even more dangerous than the poisonous

snakes.

47. If you are maintaining good health, get good education, good

friendship and exercise control over senses, you are richer than richest.

48. Broad mind comes to the fore ,the day you render moral support to

the person who has committed sins and repented over his mistakes and

now leading in a right way.

49. The fire burns the physical body whereas the fire called jealousy

will burn the life itself.

50. The beauty what you look through your eyes may by ugly to others,

3. FOOT STEPS OF THE HOLY FEET – 7

EXPERIENCES OF SAI.BA.NI.SA WITH SHIRDI SAI

Sai responds to the distress calls of his devotees instantaneously is

a well known fact to all of us. Balram Mankar after undergoing his

penance at Maschindragarh was on his way back to home. He reached Pune Railway

Station and wanted to board the train bound for Dadar in

Bombay. The serpentine queue at the ticketing counter and mob around

made him more nervous. He has almost decided it as impossible to

travel. He thought of Sai and appealed to him to see that he tides

over the crisis. Not long after Sai appeared before him as a villager

and placed a ticket for Dadar in his palm saying that he has a ticket

for Dadar and he is not in a position to undertake journey due to

exigencies. The stranger disappeared into crowd before Mankar could

realize as to what has happened. This is as narrated in Sai

Satcharitra - 31st chapter.

I have come across a similar situation and like to humbly share my

experience with all my fellow Sai devotees. It was during the year

1991 I was waiting at Rajahmundry Railway Station after attending to a mela at

the holy river `GODHAVARI'. These festivals are held once in 12 years in almost

all sacred rivers in our country (INDIA). My

relatives wanted me to handover a suitcase to their known persons

staying in Secunderabad.

Next day morning at 07.00 A.M I arrived at Secunderabad Railway

Station with my personal luggage and the suitcase to be delivered. I

took the help of a porter to come out of station premises. I was

stopped at the exit gate by the ticket Inspector. He suspected the

luggage to weigh more than the permissible limit off 30 kgs. The total luggage

weighed 39 Kgs including personal baggage. A penalty of

Rs.115/- was ordered to be paid. I was not having more than Rs.20/- in my

pocket. All my pleadings and prayers to the Ticket Inspector have gone unheeded.

Apart from this passers by were looking towards me suspiciously. I underwent the

embarrassing ordeal for nearly half an hour standing aside mute, helplessly.

Then I sincerely prayed upon Sai to pull me out of this mess and stood silently

as a spectator, watching things and happenings around.

After a lapse of some time I noticed the Officer in charge above these Ticket

Inspectors walking towards me. He offered me a glass of cool water from the

nearby Refrigerator. "I know this suit case does not belong to you, it is of

your relatives". For a moment I was struck speechless. He called for a porter

and ordered to see that the luggage is properly placed into a private carrier

and also help me out. He advised the Inspector near the Exit gate not to harass

me and coolly walked away. Who else could it be other than Sai to appear in the

form of Officer-In-Charge and save me? I whole heartedly saluted Sai with folded

hands.

4. SAIBANISA OFFERS PRANAMS TO SAINT "TUKARAM". (1608 - 1649)

Tukaram was born in the Indian region of Maharashtra. When Tukaram was thirteen,

his father grew ill and he had to take on the responsibility of supporting his

family. Soon after, both parents died.

Hardships continued to follow Tukaram. His first wife died from

starvation during a famine, and his second wife had no respect for

Tukaram's devotion to God. Contrary to the traditional Hindu model of

receiving spiritual initiation from a guru, Tukaram was initiated in a dream by

Lord Hari (Krishna/Vishnu).

When Tukaram sensed his end was approaching, he walked into the

Indrayani river. It is said that his shawl and musical instruments

returned to shore, but his body was never found. Devotees feel he was

taken bodily to heaven. During Tukaram's relatively short life, he was

constantly singing devotional hymns called abhangs, composing over 5,000. Many

of his songs are autobiographical.

5. SAI IN DREAMS:

These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SAIBANISA

from our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that

this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled

from his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

Dated: 26-08-1993.

Sai in the form of a stranger appeared in the dream and told:

1. You may be rich but lead a simple life.

2. All family members must unite at least once in a day for a

collective prayer session.

3. Have limited food. Have no desire for other women and have wealth

just enough for a comfortable living.

4. Learn to sleep on the floor.

5. Do not aspire for other's wealth.

6. Stay away from vengeance and anger and have a limited circle with

like-minded people.

7. Do not consume liquors.

8. Have unfailing faith in your Guru and follow guide lines set by him.

9. Never waste money.

10 Live as a model to others.

Sai's advice on how to be happy:

Dated: 04-09-1993.

It was an occasion to perform Pooja in my house. I approached a friend of mine

to get me all the material required for the associated

rituals. He has not turned up by the expected hour and I was tense as

muhurtham (set auspicious time) was fast approaching. Sai advised me

to perform Pooja with a purified heart instead of worrying for some

thing that has not arrived. Trust and belief should be placed only in

God.

Man's life is like that of a Cobra's one. If you want to reach me,

then you have to shed all the sins like a snake sheds it's skin

periodically. Get rid of the entire underlying ego and then only a

channel can be established between you and me.

Place your trust in God and remove `Aham'.

Dated: 08-09-1993.

It was the festive day of Maha Shiva Ratri. Lot of crowd was there and I was

finding it difficult to gain entrance in to the Temple. I was restless in my

mind. Near by there was a temple of Sri Maha Vishnu. The concerned priest was

sleeping in the last floor of the temple. As I was determined to perform Pooja,

I took the courage to wake him up. For the sake of money, he got up and

performed Pooja in a very casual way. I was not at all happy but still gave him

some money that did not satisfy him at all. I had no more money left with me. He

then snatched away my clothing and there I stood on the Road not knowing what to

do. After some time, a stranger came near to me and offered a white cloth to

cover myself. He then spontaneously advised me-"why are you wasting time in

running after Temples? You, better stay home and perform Pooja with the

available resources. God is living in your house as well".

God is universal.

6. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

16. What is God? Who is God? How are we to see God?

e) How should we obtain the vision of God?

Of the various means of visualizing God, the most efficacious one is

true Love. True Love of God is generated through association of Saints and Holy

men and through purity of heart, dispassion, and indifference to the world,

intense longing to see God and pining for Him. By constantly repeating the name

of the God, we begin to experience a thrilling sensation every moment, absolves

us from all sins and then we lose interest in everything except God. Being

afflicted by pangs of separation, we begin to shed tears in a ceaseless stream,

kick the wealth of the world and run like a mad man after Him. The moment we

begin to pine in love for God, and feel like a fish taken out of water, the

blissful God manifests Himself in His Divine enrapturing form.

True love is the best means of obtaining a vision of God. God will

appear in a visible form before one who is prepared to suffer all

sorts of persecutions and cheerfully offer his head to the sharp edge

of the sword for the sake of Divine name. The God will appear before

us if we cry for Him from the bottom of our heart. The Divine name

should be repeated at all times and in all conditions. It should never be

allowed to slip out of the mind. This is the easiest method to get God's vision.

Place an image or a picture of the God in front of you and fix your

eyes on the image or picture. Meditate on the form of God in this way

and, while doing so firmly believe that God will reveal Himself

through the image or the picture. Such meditation practiced in full

faith will lead to the Realization of God.

Mentally bow to every object of the world that comes before your eyes, believe

that God Himself has appeared before you in that form. This practice of seeing

the infinite forms of the world as so many

manifestations of the God will also lead to see the vision of God.

Knowing that all that exists is God, one will begin to look upon every thing

with an equal eye. This simple faith, if diligently pursued, will bring him

salvation.

To sum up, these are some of the methods to develop pure and exclusive love for

God and to see God directly:

a) Listen to, ponder over, read and recite the sweet, honey- like

anecdotes illustrating the qualities, loving nature and greatness of God;

b) Associate with those persons who have faith in God and love Him for no

earthly gain;

c) Repeat and recite loudly God's epithets with love, fixing one's

mind upon His Divine nature;

d) Obey the Divine Laws and remain cheerful under all circumstances,

whether favorable or adverse, taking it as Divine dispensation;

e) Strive for the good of all creatures knowing them to be His fragments;

f) Be eager to grasp His true nature and to get His vision;

g) Pray to God in seclusion in a piteous tone;

h) By practicing nonviolence, one becomes free from enmity and is

fearless;

i) Practicing truthfulness, one attains God who is an embodiment of

truth;

j) By refraining from unlawful possession of other's properties;

k) One earns the confidence of others;

l) By controlling one's sexual appetites, one gathers physical and

moral stamina;

m) By refusing to accumulate possessions, increases the stock of one's wisdom;

n) By performing sacrifices and practicing austerity one acquires

mastery over one's senses and purifies one's inner-self;

o) By practicing self-denial, doing service and carrying out the

behests of Holy men; eradicating weaknesses of the mind and control of the

senses;

Thereby we can obtain the vision of- GOD.

7. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

6/18/2005 19:57:16 +0530

Saidevotee

SaiRam!

I am a Sai devotee right from my childhood. I had so many experiences

in my life I have come across which words cannot explain. I would like to share

my recent experience which happened to me by miracle of Sai.

I got offer to join in n company, I was in dilemma whether to join

this company or not, because if I had to join this company I have

leave my previous company, which I really liked. But somehow after lot of

thinking I hesitatingly joined new company as full time employment. When I

joined this company right from the beginning, I didn't enjoy as I did at my

previous company. Work load was heavy and somehow I started to dislike this

company right from the start. Everyday going to work was a torture for me, so

after sometime 1 or 2 months I decided to leave the company hastily not even

listening to my husband who repeatedly said to me that it will be status

problem, and one fine day I left the company with no plans for the future job in

hand.

Situation was so tensed because my husband has filed for H1 extension

and I left the company and this company told me they would cancel my

H1 in a month's time. My husband cannot file H4 for me because he

already filed for his h1 extension. So Speaking of which I will be

totally out of status if my previous employer cancels my H1 and I was

scared because they won't even keep my H1 status for at least 1 month

also as they were furious with me.

My husband's health is not good enough and I was literally scared

that what will happen to him if I leave the country because of H1

problems and started scolding myself for doing such a thing by leaving the

company in haste without even searching for new job in hand even though I knew

my situation very well. I started praying Baba and cried a lot to save us and

help me get a new job immediately. I started applying for new job only after I

left the job daily my applying new jobs and praying Baba daily. Miraculously one

company came forward to file my H1 and look for new placement immediately. I

joined new company within 5 days after leaving the previous company, and my H1

is filed, approved and everything happened so fast in the span of 5 days after I

left the previous job.

This wonderful experience has taught me how Baba can help people at

times of need and I was always believe him so much and for everything. This

experience and so many other experiences in my life can never be forgettable.

Thanks SAI for everything and please I will surely pray to you God according to

the promises, please help us Baba to cure my husband's health problem and

Sister's health problem. I promise you at your lotus feet that I will surely

pray to you according to the promised prayer.

Please Sai protect us Baba, you are the one whom I believe a lot in you.

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

Venkateswaraswamy Swarna" swamysv & swamymain

Sat, 2 Jul 2005 23:05:05 -0700 (PDT)

Sai Ram. Before taking up the gems from the next chapter of

Satcharitra, let us pray together to Sadhguru Sainath to help us to

rediscover our true self by liberating us from the shackles of Kama,

Krodha and other internal enemies, by diverting our awareness from the sensory

pleasures and pains to a contemplation of the Divine.

Many times, I feel unworthy of writing this column and keep praying to Him and

asking Him why He has chosen this seva for me. Today too, I kept asking Him and

He sent a thought into my mind as follows: The best diamond or other gem lies

embedded in mud, filth, rocks etc. and is no less valuable by that. Just because

you feel unworthy, doesn't mean that your thoughts are correct. Feeling very

good about yourself and feeling very bad about yourself is your ego's nature.

Arise and awake to your true self. Do the seva in a spirit of humility.

Sai Ram. Let us now take up the spiritual gems from the next chapter.

"The last Chapter described how Mr. Cholkar's vow of small offering

was completed and accepted. In that story, Sai Baba showed that He

would accept with appreciation any small thing offered with love and

devotion, but if the same thing was offered with pride and

haughtiness, He would reject it. Being Himself full of Sat-Chit-Anand

(Existence, Knowledge and Bliss) He did not care much for more outward

formalities but if an offering was made in meek and humble spirit, the same was

welcome and He accepted it with pleasure and avidity." Sai Ram. What is accepted

is not the material offering but the love and devotion. What is rejected again

is not the material offering but the pride and haughtiness. Pride and

haughtiness take us away from our Source (Sai). Love and devotion take us to the

Source, just as rivers reach the sea.

"In fact there is no person more liberal and benevolent than a

Sadhguru, like Sai Baba. He cannot be compared to the Chintamani jewel(the

Philosopher's stone which satisfies desires), the Kalpataru (the Celestial Tree

which fulfills our desires) or the Kamadhenu (the Celestial Cow which yields

what we desire), for they give us only what we desire; but the Sadhguru gives us

the most precious thing that is inconceivable and inscrutable (The reality). Now

let us hear, how Sai Baba disposed of a rich man, who came to Him and implored

Him to give him Brahma-Jnana."

Sai Ram. Sadhguru Sai gives us not necessarily what we desire, but

definitely what we need. He knows what we need and never fails to give that.

Chintamani, fulfills our desires and leads us further along the path of Kama.

When finally, we reach the end of the path, we only get pain. Chinta also means

mental trouble. So, Chintamani is that false gem, which allures us into

problems, unless we are bestowed with the ability to discriminate what is good

for us and what is not. The same holds true for Kalpataru and Kamadhenu also.

Sainath, on the other hand, gives us what we need at any given point of time,

material and spiritual. Sai Ram.

9. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with

children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting

Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Baba told before He took His

Maha Samadhi that He is Muralidhar and would like to play in Booty Wada (Samadhi

Mandir) with His devotees. So far you have enjoyed Krishna Leelas. Baba has also

established his identity with Lord Sri Rama. Now I will take you through our

epic Ramayan. Tell your parents to read the Glory of Shirdi Sai – Bi-weekly

E-magazine and narrate Ramayan from this magazine.

OFFER OF PEACE:

Now a large army of monkeys, apes and bears was at Rama's command. The whole

army was divided into various divisions under the control and command of

Lakshmana, Sugreeva, Hanuman, Angad and Jambuvanta. The whole army marched with

war cry renting the air and stopped at the seashore. Vibhishana was seen coming

toward them by the monkeys. They informed Rama. Hanuman who was also there at

that time told that

Vibhishana, the brother of Ravana, was unlike his brother a very good

man devoted to God. He was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. "He is our

well-wisher. I have met him earlier in Lanka. It was he who directed

me to Ashokavatika where Ravana had confined Mother Sita. Let him come and we

should hear what he wants to say" Said Hanuman. Vibhishana came, bowed before

Rama and started telling how he tried his level best to infuse sense in Ravana

and how he was kicked out of the palace by his brother and banished from Lanka.

He said, "Now I have come to you seeking protection and shelter." Rama consoled

him and promised that after having killed Ravana he would crown him the king of

Lanka.

They all saw the vast ocean disappointedly. Now they had a problem how to cross

the vast expanse of mighty ocean. Even Rama was baffled by it. Rama requested

the ocean god to make way for their onward march.

Finding no response the angry Lakshmana advised Rama to dry up the

entire ocean by his divine weapon. Rama was to follow his younger

brother's advice when the ocean god appeared before him and told that

there was a monkey, Nala, in Sugreeva's army who was blessed with a

divine gift that rocks touched by him would float in water. Telling

this the ocean god disappeared and construction of a bridge over the

ocean started. Shortly, with the labour of the entire army and Nala's

divine gift of touch a bridge was built. And the whole army led by

Rama crossed the ocean and reached Lanka.

Vibhishana told Rama that Ravana's demon spies were out to infiltrate

his army so that they could find out preparations and plans made by

him. He also informed Rama of the impending danger as Ravana had

ordered his warriors to go and destroy and burn up the sleeping and

resting army of monkeys, apes and bears. As they were fully prepared

to face the coming danger the demons did not succeed in their plan to

burn up and eliminate Rama's army. Vibhishana recognized some demon

spies in monkey's disguise moving around. The spies were caught and

brought before Rama, but the generous Rama released them and said, "Go and tell

what you have seen here and also say to Ravana that if he did not return Sita

and atone for his evil-deeds he would surely be killed along with his entire

clan". The demon spies led fled for their life. All were ready to mount attack

on Lanka. They had reached the gates of the golden city of Lanka. As Rama wanted

to avoid a lot of blood-shed; so, before commencing war, he decided to make a

final offer of peace of Ravana. He, therefore, chose Angad and sent him as his

emissary of peace.

Angad reached Ravana put before him Rama's offer of peace and

conditions for peace. Ravana felt humiliated at the proposal to return Sita and

seek Rama's forgiveness. He became furious and said, "O impertinent monkey! How

dare you tell me, the mighty Ravana, what should I do? I have never been afraid

of any one. You are scaring me of two ordinary banished princes and their army

of monkeys and apes and bears. What to say of human beings, gods and demons

alike tremble at the mere mention of my name. Such a mighty Ravana will seek

forgiveness! No, never. First, I shall punish and kill you." Saying thus Ravana

rose from his throne and ran to Angad. But before Ravana could lay hold on him,

Angad flew out of the court with Ravana's crown and placed it at Rama's feet.

"Victory to Rama!" the war cry rented the air.

SAI NAMA EKAHA AT BASAR.

We know there are only two temples of Goddess Saraswathi in India

(Kashmir and Basar of Andhra Pradesh) it is one of the famous temples

attracting devotees from all over India.Sadhakas from Varanasi

(Benaras) come for Sadhana living on Bhiksha. A Sai Devotee who

arranged 1008-Ghata Abhishek to the Goddess on 21-3-01 was inspired to have

non-stop Sainaam for 24 hours i.e., 19-03-01 to 20-03-01. We feel it's a gift of

Samartha Ramdas Swamiji within 24 hours of Sajjanghad programme. It is

understood that this was first time that a public function of SaiBaba was

conducted at this temple town. The Bhajan Mandali of Datta Venkata Sai Samajam

of Kalloor Adilabad Dist

participated with more than 70 devotees.

We are grateful to Baba and Goddess for giving an opportunity to sing

sweet name of Sainath on the banks of river Godavari. Devotees who

witnessed have great appreciation for the quality and devotion of the

programs.

The present book by `Sai Ananda' completes the trilogy of the author

on Baba. Having been a follower of Poojya Narasimha Swamiji, Poojya

Saipadananda Radhakrishna Swamiji and Poojya Narasimha Baba, `Sai

Ananda has been a silent Sadhak. While his first book focused on the

path of Dharma propounded by Baba, the second one highlights the role

of Sadguru. The present volume `The light of wisdom – Shirdi Sai Baba'

complements the Guru's role as a destroyer of darkness unto light. Hardwork and

a lot of patience have gone into the book. To serious students of SAIISM, the

present volume along with the two others mentioned above is a must.

15. EDITORIAL.

Things impressed me from this Magazine:

The physically handicapped, ugly looking persons, uneducated persons

and poor people are all the creation of God. So do not neglect them if possible

try to extend your love and moral support to them.

If you are in good health, get good education, good friendship and

exercise control over senses, then you are richer than richest.

The fire burns the physical body whereas the fire called jealousy will burn the

life itself.

All family members must unite at least once in a day for a collective

prayer session.

Obey the Divine Laws and remain cheerful under all circumstances,

whether favorable or adverse, taking it as Divine dispensation;

For seeing Brahman one has to surrender five things viz. (1) Five

Pranas (vital forces), (2) Five senses (five of action and five of

perception), (3) mind, (4) intellect and (5) ego.
