Guest guest
In Yoga for the Three Stages of Life by Srivatsa Ramaswami he recommends the Pravargya Brahmana, the fifth chapter of the Taittiriya Aranyaka, which consists of 108 sections, specifically: "These mantras can ... be used when one is involved in litigations." I went looking for the Pravargya mantras before and realized I had actually already heard them (or a part) on a CD available through the public library where I live. Maybe it will also be available where you are. Here's the info on that recording: Chants of India [sound recording] Shankar, Ravi, 1920- Publisher: Angel Records, Pub date: p1997. , Linda <lmy2420> wrote: > I have a court date on July 21 and I am concerned about the outcome. Guest guest
Here's a bit more of what S. Ramaswami says about these mantras: "The mantras have the power, it is said, to create the right vibrations, both in the outer environs and in the chakras. I have always felt extremely good and peaceful at the end of an hour's chanting, especially of the Pravargya." , "Mary Ann" <buttercookie61> wrote: > In Yoga for the Three Stages of Life by Srivatsa Ramaswami he > recommends the Pravargya Brahmana, the fifth chapter of the > Taittiriya Aranyaka, which consists of 108 sections, specifically: > "These mantras can ... be used when one is involved in > litigations." Guest guest
If the contents of that CD is this: "Vandanaa trayee. Opening music, Ganesha, Saraswati, music Guru (4:28) -- Omkaaraaya namana (1:55) -- Vedic chanting (One) with flute (3:10) -- Asato maa (7:10) -- Sahanaa vavatu (4:2 5) -- Poornamadah joined with tampura (1:23) -- Gaayatri (3:26) -- Mahaa mrityunJaya (Om triambakam) (4:41) -- Veenaa-murali (music interlude) with flute (3:44) -- Geetaa (Karmanye vadhikaraste) (2:15) -- Mangalam (Tala mantra) (4:10) -- Hari om (music interlude) (3:05) -- Svara mantra (Indian group and string quartet) (4:36) -- Vedic chanting (Two) with sitar, strings and voice (2:14) -- Prabhujee (8:10) -- Sarve shaam (5:05)." , then i really wonder if the pravargya brahmana is chanted in there! The text of pravargya brahmana ie taittiriya aranyaka chapter 5 can be downloaded from "http://www.sanskritweb.net/yajurveda/ta-05.pdf" and the pravargya ritual itself performed can viewed online from the site, "http://jyotistoma.nl/EN/default.asp#Pravargya" .But......the whole performance is around 1.5 hrz long !!! the accompanied begining and end mantras can be heard alone which are actually from the 4th chapter. , "Mary Ann" > <buttercookie61> wrote: > > In Yoga for the Three Stages of Life by Srivatsa Ramaswami > he > > recommends the Pravargya Brahmana, the fifth chapter of the > > Taittiriya Aranyaka, which consists of 108 sections, specifically: > > "These mantras can ... be used when one is involved in > > litigations." Guest guest
I read online that that particular CD contained the Pravargya mantras after I did an online search for the Pravargya awhile ago. Maybe you are right, if any of it is on there, it may not be all of it. I had taken that CD out and listened to it long before I read about / searched for the Pravargya. Ramaswami says in his book that he feels "extremely good and peaceful at the end of an hour's chanting, especially of the Pravargya." So, wherever a copy can be found, it sounds like something the original poster could use. , "Adwaith Menon" <menonar> wrote: > If the contents of that CD is this: > "Vandanaa trayee. Guest guest
Linda, I just tried to find the link I found that directed me to that CD to begin with and couldn't locate it. But here it is at Amazon, and there are sound samples: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002SMC/qid =1121032366/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_ur_1/103-5581922-7817427? v=glance&s=classical&n=507846 If that doesn't work do a search Chants of India at amazon. It's the one that has George Harrison on it that I read about and listened to before. The Ramaswami book I have says: "The fourth and fifth chapters of the Taittiriya Aranyaka are recited early in the morning, and this recitation is again supposed to remove the ill effects of any adharmic acts. The fifth prapataka, called Pravargya Brahmana, consists of 108 anuvakas or sections. The Pravargya is the only chapter that has a peace invocation at the beginning as well as at the end." Adwaith Menon's post below says that Chapter 4 is the one with the mantras at beginning and end. I am not familiar with the text itself; I'm just quoting a secondary source, but one I think is reliable. Good luck, Mary Ann , "Adwaith Menon" <menonar> wrote: > If the contents of that CD is this: > "Vandanaa trayee.
