Guest guest
"TApa-TrayAgni-Samtapta-SamAhlAdana-Chandrika [means the] 'moonlight that delightfully soothes those who are scorched by the three fires," namely, AdhyAtmika, Adhibhautika and Adhidaivika. Thus, [the name of this name is that] She soothes those scorched by the afflictions and worries of physical, mental and spiritual nature." - Dr. C. Guest guest
This is for me one of the most beloved and meaningful Names. >"Tanu-MadhyA, 'fine-waisted,' also means that there is nothing at >the cennter, which is of AkAsa-SvarUpa. This is very helpful, in giving the esoteric meaning. I thought there must be some meaning beyond the standardized beauty canon attributes. Guest guest
Hi Max: You are quite correct. Essentially all of the canonical "standardized beauty" descriptives carry esoteric messages in addition to their overt meanings. Glad to hear you're finding the good doctor's 20th Century gloss on the Sahasranama useful! He doesn't hit every name dead on, and his slant is decidedly Samaya -- thus eliminating many of the more overtly Kaula interpretations -- but overall, I like his comments very much.
