"Bhakta-MAnasa-HamsikA [is] the female swan who dwells in the lake of

Her devotees' minds, otherwise known as MAnas-Sarovar. DevI loves to

be in the minds of Her devotees -- Hamsa is a symbol of SrI-LalitA as

the life breath, or PrAna. Siva and Sakti -- the twin aspects of

reality -- [have similarly been] compared to a pair of swans sporting

in the minds of their devotees (cf. Bhaje-Hamsa-Dvandvam, 'I adore the

pair of swans,' in Soundarya Lahari, 38)."
