kAmesvaraprAnanAdi : The vital current of Kamesvara.

 

The AcArya [sau. La. V. 22] says "When Siva drank the virulent poison,

his days did not end. O Mother, owing to the power of your ear

ornaments"

 

[Note : such ornaments are worn by a married woman only during her

coverture]

great dissolution [pralaya]. But Siva who has consumed virulent

poison can defy death even at the time. The reason for this, O

Mother, is the power of Your ear ornaments.!"

 

In the brilliance of those ornaments, the darkness of the poison

fades and the poison ceases to be virulent. This is how Devi becomes

the vital neve [prAna Nadi] of Siva. Widows do not normally wear

such ornaments.

 

 

Now I check on the SL. Verse 22.

 

The Saundaryalahari; or, Flood of Beauty — traditionally ascribed to

Sankaracarya, edited and translated by W. Norman Brown (Cambridge,

Mass.: Harvard University Press, 1958).

 

Verse 22

 

bhavAni tvaM dAse vitara dRShTiM sakaruNAM

iti stotuM vAcchan kathayati bhavAni tvamiti yaH |

tadaiva tvaM tasmai dishasi nijasAyujyapadaviiM

mukunda brahmendra sphuTa mukuTa niirAjitapadAm ||

 

"Do you, O lady (bhavani), extend to me, your slave, a compassionate

glance!" —

when one desiring to praise you utters the words "you, O lady",

at that moment you grant him a state of identity with you,

with your feet illuminated (as in the evening waving of lights

before a god's image) by

Bhavani twam dase is one of the most powerful meditative tools we have in Shakta

tantra.

 

Just visualise the scene clearly and completely in Technicolor

 

 

 

{{{{{{"Do you, O lady (bhavani), extend to me, your slave, a compassionate

glance!" —

when one desiring to praise you utters the words "you, O lady", at that moment

you grant him a state of identity with you, with your feet illuminated (as in

the evening waving of lights before a god's image) by the crests of Mukunda

(Vishnu), Brahma, and Indra.

tvam) also mean 'may I become you'. A worshiper wins Devi's grace and achieves

Imagine you standing in front of Devi while Brahma, Vishnu and Other gods are

prostrating before her. See the feet of Devi being illuminated by the lights fro

the jewels on their crown like a million Suns and say these words and imagine

you being invited to sit along with her and suddenly you becoming HER and the

devas doing obeisance to YOU!! Do this meditation till the whole scene becomes

automatic with all the small details and flashes every time you start reciting

this shloka and you will verily become HER with all her powers and attributes.

 

So why be confused with the words? Practice and see. This is the esoteric matter

thats dealt with in this shloka.

 

(when you become Devi do let me know, so that I can visit you. *smile*) - It

does not take a long time.

Well, I am confuse with the word : ear ornaments. If u look at both

reference, no relation whatsoever. Is it possible that the "ear

ornaments" means something else? There are estoric meaning to it?

The confusion is probably due to a typo about the

verse number in SL. It should be verse 28 -

"Sudhaampyaasvaadya ..... thaatanka mahimaa", which

means what is quoted:

 

"Even the devas who have consumed the nectar that

removes old age and death perish in the great

dissolution [pralaya]. But Siva who has consumed

virulent poison can defy death even at the time. The

reason for this, O Mother, is the power of Your ear

ornaments.!"

Thank you. Yes! I found the correct verse too. Theres seems to have

so many typo error.

i have a lurking suspecion that here Shankara is referring to the temple of

abhirami in Trikkadayoor.

 

it is said when he reached the temple, Shankara could not enter the temple

because of her effulgence and then he attracted all her power into two kundalas

- ear ornaments in the form of Shri Yantras and then could enter.

 

The real prathishta there is of vaaraahi.

 

the priest there dresses as a woman to do pooja as if a male does pooja he just

disappears. Thats the belief.

"KAmesvara-PrAnanAdI [means] the life-breath of KAmesvara, or Siva.
