kAmapujitA : worshipped by Kama.

The Arunopanisad [Tai. Ar. I. 11] says, "[There is a] bodiless son of

Laksmi; though he is without mind, he has life. He acquired the jewel

[ the PaNcadasimantra]."

"KAma-PUjitA [means] 'worshiped by KAma,' who is Siva. Having the

wish to create, Siva worshiped Her for its fulfillment. [The name

also denotes] that KAma, who is Manmatha, worshiped Her with the

PaNcadasI Mantra, according to Arunopanisat; or [alternatively] it

means that She is to be worshiped in KAma-Giri-PItha, i.e., the

MulAdhAra Chakra."

- Dr. C. Suryanarayana Murthy, Commentary, 1962
