Guest guest
As per Telugu panchangam ( this calander month starts from next day of amavasya)Varalakshi vartham normally happens to be 2nd Friday of Sravana Masam. That happens to be on 19th. This is known as Varalakshmi Varatam since the vrata katha / Story is read by ladies after puja and give vayanam / gifts to suvasinis and get blessings ( in some parts of the country). --- Panimalar a/p Venayagan <panimalar wrote: Hi friends, Could anybody tell me when is Lakshmi Pooja whether it is on 12th or 19th August. Guest guest
There is a scheduled holiday called Vara Lakshmi Puja, which is celebrated on a Friday in the late summer/ early autumn. The Hindu Temple in Flushing celebrates it. (Unfortunately, I've misplaced my Hindu calendar from the Temple!) For several years, I was sending a small donation for such a Puja to the Temple. Then one of the Temple pujaris wrote to me, asking, "Aren't you a man? I ask because, the Vara Lakshmi Puja is primarily performed for married women who want to bless their husbands, and assure that they will not be widows." (I.e., asking that they die before their husbands do!) Was my face red! As Nora implies, a general Puja to Lakshmi (for abundance) can be performed on any day -- preferably a Friday during a waxing Moon. -- Len/ Kalipadma --- NMadasamy <nmadasamy wrote: > , Panimalar a/p > Venayagan > <panimalar@h...> wrote: > > Hi friends, > > > > Could anybody tell me when is Lakshmi Pooja > whether it is on 12th or > 19th > > August. Guest guest
Namaskar, This same question was asked in group and someone had given reply: It is observed on the Friday before paurNami in the month of shrAvaNa. In the US, it is on 12th and in India it is on 19th. So it depends on the fact when paurnami is. "shrAvaNa-paurNamI-pUrvastha-shukravAre chArumatI-prabhR^itibhih pUjitAkAre" from http://www.medieval.org/music/world/carnatic/lyrics/shri_varalakshmi.html , Len Rosenberg <kalipadma108> wrote: > > There is a scheduled holiday called Vara Lakshmi Puja, > which is celebrated on a Friday in the late summer/ > early autumn. Hello KK. Thank you for that encouragement. My ego is inflating now. Too much of that, it will burst. hhhaaa okay joke aside. yes ! panimalar, I have known Mahesh. We've been communicating for sometimes. He send several articles about the untouchables etc. Everytime he did that, I send him a thank you note because I enjoy reading. Here you have somebody sending me nice article for my reading pleasure. So you say thank you. I wish I can do more for those unfortunate people in India, but you see im in Malaysia and my concern is more for the unfortunate people here in Malaysia. Why look outside when your own backyard needs to be amended? If an organisation in India asked for help, the only way I know is to send in money. Physically I cant be there because I have family commitment. Now this is how I see it. He is an angry young man and he is really angry about something, and this is the best way he know how to express his anger. He have my sympathy. My only wish is that he channel that anger in a productive way, then it will benefit not only himself but the society he is very concern about at large. I have asked many times : okay tell. Me what are you going to do about it. You mention about those problems faced by the unfortunate people in India. You are in USA and I am sure living in comfort. What are you doing about it to help those people in India? I believe in doing and not just lip service. But as KK have said, we have seen a lot of happenings in this group. Different people from different walks of life, from all over the world is in this group. Often we received angry letters, not to mention hate mails and yes! many congratulatory note too. To me its all part and parcel of managing a group. The main question we often asked : who are we doing all these for? For personal pride or its for DEVI. In non virtual life, as soon as you step out of your house, you are subjectd to all sorts of happening. You will meet either one : nice and helpful people or the not too nice ones. There are those who would purposely try to provoke you. What do you do? Would you respond or just walk away. The Virtual community is no different. Infact the virtual community is more dangerous because you cant see the face of the person. They hide themselves with mask [ ids ]. You ignore or block one, several will emerge. This reminds you of the DEVI MAHATMAYA right. Raktabija have this ability to regenerate and fills the battlefield with his own clones. What did DURGA did, SHE ask KALI to suck the blood of Raktabija even before it falls on the ground. Raktabija falls dehydrated without blood and all the clones mopped by KALI. Hey! this looks like a good survival strategy for the virtual life. hehheehehee. hmmmmmm we have the Tantrik Lost Weight Programme. Now : The Cyber Survival Kit. So what shall we do about it? Its all up to you. The best is to remain focus on your intentions. Why are you in the virtual reality? If you want to search for DEVI, keep her in your mind all the time, and SHE will guide you accordingly.
