Guest guest
Dear Sr. Raj Kumar: I would only add that the "ancient culture" to which you refer is hardly a monolithic, homogeneous entity. Nor is the vast and diverse network of belief systems which are collectively referred to as Hinduism. I cannot dispute that many traditions (Hindu and otherwise) teach according to your stated opinions, as Max has politely pointed out. But there are other traditions that do not, as Kochu has pointed out. Further, and far beyond these considerations, there are the teachings of one's own guru and lineage. Sadhaks who are not able or inclined to get past the duality of pure-impure, etc., will be guided in such a way as they are able to understand, and through which they can advance. It is just as simple, and just as complex, as that. But blanket pronouncements such as yours -- which I read as saying, "Well, that is our Hindu heritage, and you can love it or leave it" -- are not only unfair conversation-stoppers; they are fundamentally inaccurate and misleading. A Lady during and after her menses should not put the cloth anywhere just like that and should burn it. This is because if the sanitary cloth/ napkin with menstrual blood is smelled and licked by serpents who like this smell and taste very much, they shall contract severe skin diseases and even progeny is also affected. this is as per the elders knowledge. > > > Max Dashu <maxdashu@l...> wrote: > >it is my humble velief that what is required is mental purity.
