Mantra really works!

I was given the book Shakti Mantras for my birthday, it's an amazing book

that put so much of the knowledge I've gathered the last several years

studying Shakti into perspective. It was like I had a bunch of bundles of

yarn in a drawer and this book knit me a sweater. :)

I started my first mantra to Lakshmi (who I've loved for years) 40 days

ago. Today I received a job offer, a really good job offer, from the

president of a very stable and growing company based on my art that he had

seen around town (I'm a graphic artist.) This is the perfect job for me,

and I did't even seek it out myself.

I am amazed and humbled. I just had to share. It feels so good to know

that my faith in Her was strong enough, and now it's even stronger!

Love and light,

Allison

Hi Allison,

I'm curious; does this book use a standard transliteration scheme for

Sanskrit, or does it use phonetic approximations?

For collection purpose such books are good, a person

has to recite a mantra several number of time in order

to make a mantra effective.. We can only recite a few

mantras everyday due to time constraint..And I think

reciting few mantra is better that many.I may not be

completely right. What is your opinion?.

I believe it has both. But I'm not totally sure what "standard

transliteration scheme" means...

Here's a Wikipedia entry on the Harvard-Kyoto transliteration system,

with links at the bottom of the H-K entry for the ITRANS system

(popular on the Internet) and the IAST system (popular in academic

writing.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard-Kyoto

I can't vouch for the accuracy of the entry, although it looks more or

less okay to me.

The IAST page doesn't display properly in my browser; I think the

problem is at my end.
