Guest guest Posted September 10, 2005 Report Share Posted September 10, 2005 matih : mati is explained in the VAyu Pr thus, "Purusa bears the measuring [rod], understands division and thinks himself composed of parts, hence he is known as Mati" The Su Sam [su. gitA, VIII. 89] says, mati is the form of Devi:" Let us adore that Siva who is worshipped by Visnu and others, who is the bestower of bliss, who is known as Mati derived from experience, supreme, who knows [lit measures] the Vedas, beneficient."
