That is why in yoga, some asanas like the one mentioned below must

never be tried without a "COMPETENT" guru. A guru who reads the

student correctly and is able to bring back him/her from the state

of samadhi.

 

An example of this in SV can be found in very early posts (somewhere

around # 1 - 1000) by our dear Kochu, related to brahmananda (sp?)

puja.

 

To provide the jist:

 

Kochu was performing the puja for the first time under his guru's

supervision. As he went through the puja, his guru tapped him on the

shoulder to distract him. This happened one or 2 times more. At that

instant he did not realize why the guru disturbed him. Later his

guru explained that if a sadhaka goes into eternal bliss during the

first attempt, it is difficult (or impossible??) to bring the

sadhaka back from the state of samadhi. So it is better to disturb

and make the sadhaka aware of what is that state and how to come out

during the first attempt. After which the sadhaka will know how to

handle it.

 

It reminds me of the story of Abimanyu in mahabharatham. How he

learnt in his mother's womb about breaking into the chakra (pun

unintended) vyoogam during the battle. But was not taught by krishna

on how to come out - which is his destiny.

 

While someone may ask, if the goal of a SVU is to merge with HER,

why stop someone from attaining it when it can be done. A 640

million $ (or Rupees) question!! Beats me!!

 

But my guess will be, since SVU's are meant to love without

conditions attached, and anyone who have experienced such bliss is

more suitable to show love to everything. It is HER wish for the SVU

to exist in the Maya and spread love and if possible guide a few

more in that path of eternal love and bliss.
