Guest guest
I started with one mantra, used my lotus seed mala with 108 beads and did 2 reps of this a day. I also have a wrist mala that I wear during the day to chant when I'm riding in a car or doing anything mindless. I also try to chant in the shower, while washing dishes, etc., just to keep my mind busy. My motivation for starting japa was to quiet my mind. My husband is looking for a job and I tend to worry a lot and have anxious dreams when I'm stressed over finances. Mantra quiets my mind, I was so close to giving in to the Dr.'s plan of anti-anxiety medication, but through meditation I've learned to stop being so anxious. I just breathe and think about Lakshmi, by the time the repetitive hand motion starts it's like I'm in a different place where worry just doesn't exist. I've decided I'm only working on one mantra at a time for 40 day periods, except the Gayatri Mantra, which I find myself humming several times a day without thinking about it since I found the Deva Premal CD. It's so beautiful... > For collection purpose such books are good, a person > has to recite a mantra several number of time in order > to make a mantra effective.. We can only recite a few > mantras everyday due to time constraint..And I think > reciting few mantra is better that many.I may not be > completely right.
