Navarathri - what to do?

Namaskar,

 

I have been celebrating the Navarathri with the local Hindu temple. I

do wish my Hindi was better...

 

Any way, as a part of tonight's service we could give a donation and

receive a baggie of articles, which were put on the altar during the

service, then later we collected this baggie.

 

I actually helped put together these baggies.

 

Each one contains:

 

1 red cloth tied with a special red (and sometimes other colored) string

1 coconut

1 nut (of indeterminate species)

1 betel leaf

1 small bag of kum kum powder

 

 

Okay, other than putting this on my altar, what do I do with these items?
