Guest guest
I sometimes get an Ayurvedic ointment containing turmeric, becuse it's good for the skin. But one of the names of Ganesha is "Haridra Ganapati," which I was told meant "the Turmeric Ganesha." Is he really saffron? (Both turmeric and saffron are used in cooking to add yellow coloring to food. But they are very different spices; turmeric comes from a root, saffron comes from a flower stamen.) There's another Sanskrit or Hindu name for saffron (I forgot it!) that is used in incenses, because saffron has a distinctive scent. Anyone know it? -- Len --- NMadasamy <nmadasamy wrote: > > yeah, Indians or rathers in the south east asian > region we use > tumeric in our cooking.
