"Haridra" (I was told) is turmeric. "Curcurmin," an ingredient found in turmeric, balances high blood sugar and heals some cancers. A ball of turmeric powder can be used as a murthy for Haridra Ganapati in ritual. Don't know about this "haldi" stuff! :-) Now I want to play my old Donovan albums!
