interesting aspects of Tibetan tantric culture

namaste to all...

I want to bring out an interesting aspect of Tibetan Buddhism where according to

the tantric scriptures talk about being saved/liberated during the interval of

death-reborn or Bardo by focuing ones attention or awareness on noble qualities

or on a specific diety if the person has not been a spiritual practitioner

If you look at hinduism, you have specific instruction on what to do just when

you sense death is approaching but there is no mechanism to save oneself after

death probably the momentum of spiritual pratise before death is also an

important thing to be considered

I had a talk with my Tibetan Teacher, about the success of this and he did say

that just when the person has gone into coma before death thats when the

powerful prayers can be directed by a highly tantric practitioners in pushing

the soul through the aperture on top of the head so the soul would go into

higher realms but in cases where the death has occured it would be difficult

depending on the power of the individual teacher

Another aspect I have observed is...

When great tibetan practitioners during the time of puja identifies themselves

as the deity so inorder to use the faculty of that diety's function in helping

the intended person, they have a glow radiating from there face and the

atmosphere around them becomes so full of reverence

We have Khadgamala as an interesting example of such a great exalated short

prayer in invoking all the deities while in tibetan tantric prayers there are

usually full of motivation to be liberated and the prayers are full of praying

to all the buddhist deities

i would share some more nteresing information when it comes up in my mind

regards

vikram
