Guest guest
>Please explain what a Rahu Pariharam is? > > In hinduism we also believe in Astrology. Seven plantes and two shadowy planets called Rahu and Ketu. We also believe that we are born with certain planatary allignment, and some are benefic and some malefic. Rahu falls under Melefic category. Rahu is not a planet but a shadowy planet. The best way to understand Rahu and Ketu is to remember the Hindu mythological stroy - where Lord Vishnu was distributing AMRITHA which grants immortality AS WE are aware that Asuras are evil- hence, immortality should not be granted that is the goal. So, Lord Vishnu decided to distribute AMRITHA among only devas - but one asura managed to sneak and swallowed AMRITHA and this was discovered by SUN and MOON. Immediately, Lord Vishnu grabbed his sword and severed the demon into two. However, having taken AMritha this demon did not die instead became two creatures. The top half of the demon was named RAHU and the bottom half was called KETU. Ever since, they became bitter enemies of both luminaries (SUN AND MOON)and cause problems if they are conjoined with them or badly placed in one's horoscope. Hindu's also believe that to some extent evil effect of planets or shadowy planets can be eradicated by doing Pariharam meaning counteracting the evil effect of plantes. Amma had three day camp, where special prayer as Pariharam was conducted either by her or by some swamiji. She chooses three planets as particularly problem creating they are Mars, Rahu and Saturn. I registered for all three including LS. Hope I managed to make some sense to your question. Astrology is entirely different subject maybe some knowledgable person can explain further. raji
Guest guest
I'm an astrologer myself! Mostly Western-trained, but I took an introductory course in Jyotish with Ronnie Gail Dryer. I know Rahu is the North Node of the Moon, or Caput Draconis (Dragon's Head). As my Lunar asterism (Nakshatra) is Svati, I am especially "linked" with Rahu. My question was more exactly, what is a Pariharam. I gather from your response that a Pariharam is some sort of ritual remedy to offset a Rahu dosha. I wish Amma would do such workshops in her world tours! Thanks for your explanation. -- Len/ Kalipadma --- rajeshwari iyer <rajii31 wrote: > > > > >Please explain what a Rahu Pariharam is? > > > > > > In hinduism we also believe in Astrology.
