Guest guest
Re: UK Protest: X-mas Stamp Depicts Hindus Worshopping Baby Jesus I just noticed the spelling in the (original) subject line! Worshopping! I do believe the word accurately and succinctly describes the major annual ritual preceding Christmas. At least over here in the U.S.! Perhaps it should be pronounced "war-shopping." And to the extent that Hindus participate in excessive consumption and consumer culture, they too can (and probably do) "worshop" before major holidays. Kidding aside.... Using the link that Paulie/prainbow posted, I have emailed to suggest that the Royal Mail institute a review process (or improve the existing process) for stamp images so that they can better avoid culturally insensitive images. Ladies and gentlemen, I think we've probably squeezed (stamped?) all the value we can out of this postage topic. Shall we move on?
Guest guest
A picture is worth a thousand words, as the going says I don't think it is inappropriate to get the point across that showing pix of Hindus worshipping Baby Jesus is equivalent to showing pix of Christians worshipping Krishna. So, you wonderful artists out there, send your wares along with a letter telling your concerns to the Royal Mail folks about the stamps and see what they do. BTW I think that you can make any kind of stamp or label you want (that isn't obscene) and attach it to letters and have them travel through the post. In the US we have all kind of labels and seals and whatnot. It's not the same as having the postal service accept it as payment for mailing the item, but it's a point being made, after all. , "msbauju" <msbauju> wrote: > > > Re: UK Protest: X-mas Stamp Depicts Hindus Worshopping Baby Jesus > > I just noticed the spelling in the (original) subject line! > > Worshopping!
