Guest guest
I just realized today, about 9 years after the fact, that the writer and director M. Night Shyamalan of film "The Sixth Sense" was born in India. I absolutely love the film. It was just re-run recently on cable in the LA area, and has inspired me yet again. Thought I'd post this and see if any other SS members have anything to say about it, if you feel it's relevant to post about it.
Guest guest
Mary Ann, If you notice, that movie and "Unbreakable" w/ Samuel L. Jackson, definitely reflects the world view of someone of the Hindu religion. It centers around fate, Karma & duty. All his movies tend to have those same themes. Go see "Unbreakable", which has the same themes. Best, Janardana Dasa Mary Ann <buttercookie61 wrote: I just realized today, about 9 years after the fact, that the writer and director M. Guest guest
I went to film school at NYU with Manoj (M. Night) and he never expressed any Hindu affinity there. I always liked his films, and for many years did not know that M. was Manoj. I was tickled when I found out. Guest guest
Yeah. One day I'll finally get it together and shoot some documentaries on Yogis, Saints and Sages of India or just a cool film on the Kumbh. Many have been doing this lately, but not very well. - sankara menon Tuesday, November 08, 2005 8:33 PM Re: The Sixth Sense wow Mahamuni!! thats wunderbar. Guest guest
I agree. The viewpoint is either somehow skewed in one way or another. Their is one from 1989, that is famous and out of print called: "Call of the flute". When it came out, Hinduism today was touting it. It is out of print but i am now getting a copy made by the producer. It is of particular interest to me as it follows my Guru to Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal. Guest guest
Hm, no viewpoint. This may actually somewhat describe the movie I posted about a couple weeks ago, Naked in Ashes. But even so, the power of the yogis came through. The viewpoint was just one of watching all these yogis travel to bathe at a sacred gathering/location, and learning about their lives on the way, with a little historical context, but not a whole lot. , "Mahamuni" <mahamuni@c...> wrote: > > Love to see it. Most of them have no viewpoint at all. Just meandering around with the camera.
