[mantra] Though the GaudapAda-sutra [67] says, "This mantra consists of twenty- eight syllables," yet there will be no contradiction, if we divide the fifteen-syllabled mantra into three division [ and add some syllables more between the divisions ]. Or, it means a vidyA wherein the sixteenth syllable [sri] is used. BhAskararAya's Commentary Translated into English by R. Guest guest
SrI-sodasAksarI-vidyA refers to the Mantra with Sixteen Letters; i.e. SrI-RAjarAjesvarI Mantra. There seems to be some confusion between this mantra and the HayagrIva Mantra. SrI GaudapAdAcArya examines this and states it refers to SrI-Devi only. - Dr. C.
