guhajanmabhUh : The Mother of Guha

Guha, Subrahmanya.

Or, guha [lit. to cover] that which is covered, the jivas veiled by

avidyA; janmabhU, the birthplace. The Sruti [br. Up. II. 1. 20]

says, "just as from fire small sparks arise, etc". The YAjNavalkya

Smr. also, says, "Just as sparks come from the hot iron so the souls

have come out from the Self"

She is the Mother of Guha; i.e. Subrahmanya.

Compare to name 442, where She is called KumAra-gana-nAthAmbA, the

Mother of KumAra and GananAtha.

Subrahmanya or KumAra is the Commander-in-Chief of the Divine Forces,

and hence the foremost of the divinising forces of Consciousness.

Ganesa is another aspect of the above whose manifestation is to

destroy all obstructions to the divinising force of Consciousness.

These two deities have thousands of devotees all over the Hindu

world, worshiped for Moksa or God-Realisation.

Sahasranama, 1962
