Meaning:

As he himself with the powerful hand smeared in ash

took

a random page in the thirumuRai that declares the

Truth,

the padhikam that came out is the one that is praises

thirunaLLARu of the Superior with four great shoulders

(starting) - bOgamArththa pUNmulaiyAL.

 

Notes:

1. A custom many devotees follow even today and get

benefited is, "kayiRu cArththal". With all devotion

after

worship the devotees puts a sacred thread in the

thirumuRai collection and picks a random padhikam

using that thread. The padhikam that comes out would

have the resolution to the thing sought by the

devotee.

meykaNDAr who composed the great philosophy text,

"shiva nyAna bOdham" was born through the remedy

got this way.

This tradition has been started by the great nyAna

cambandhar himself when he wanted to pick a padhikam

for "anal vAdham" (fire challenge).
