Guest guest
Namaste I agreed but I'll say what I think is ridiculus. IRRESPECTIVE of whether these paintings are obscene or not, or whether they hurt anyones religious sentiments or not. I am not talking about that here. What has this hoo haa about these paintings done/acheived? - Given Hussein LOTS of free publicity. - Hiked the price of his painting up considerably. - Shown other painters the obvious, advantages of creatings "art" along these lines. A PETITION is going stop all the above?! It is going FUEL it even more. When are we Indians ever going to learn? How many wealthy, influencial Hindus out there both in India and the West? A significant many. What would the British have done if it was a Christian issue? An influencial Christian Brit would have for example, had a quiet , civilised word in the ear of owners of galleries regarding an interest in sponsership and philanthropic contributions to said gallery and made clear that they are Hindus (and just in case, these people don't know anything about Hinduism, would have mentioned the overall sentiment regarding public depiction of nudity. In TODAY'S time. [just in case someone takes this off on a tangent of Khajurao etc!] Enough said. The primary reason why Muslims get away with mass protest and Hoo Haa is that some lunatic somewhere may also follow up with violance. Therefore its a deterrant. Christians have to put up with this kind of thing too from "artistic individuals". Do you ever hear about it? Its almost non existant because of the WAY it is delt with. Lessons were learnt from that movie "Last Temptation of Christ" years ago. You don't do the advertising for these people and its not just free, its costing you! An individual or small group pushes your buttons, you don't SHOW that you've gone up in flames and invite further prods!! kind regards her_asha , "Mahamuni" <mahamuni@c...> wrote: > > I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. > - > Sree Mokshakama > > Monday, January 16, 2006 10:28 PM > M.F. Guest guest
Although i always normally end up on the side of religious anti-defamation, i TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU.
