Guest guest
It will be rather easy to comment from the cosy confines of our homes, but how many are willing to come and face the kidnappers head-on and try to stop this ! (not me, sorry !!!) Or, like a conservationist ad from Singapore to save sharks say to stop eating shark-fin soup, cos when the eating stops the killing stops. Likewise for prostitution, when the f...... stops the selling will ! Crude but true, as it is on ground zero ! In my line of work, tourism, we come across instances of clients seeking whores. I remember this rather pathetic case of this Indian settled in California who came to India with his wife annd daughter. To get the conversation on (his) track, he told me how booze and women are provided free in Vegas provided one is an easy gambler. Someone in his family is a good (easy) gambler and the casinos sends a private plane to pick up his likes. He never had money to pay his bill (we let him go as he was a friend of our directors nephew, and we recovered the money shortly after), but on his last night in India he had tied up with some pimp, and spent the night in some seedy hotel near Delhi airport while his wife and kids stayed on 'credit' in a decent down-town hotel. On a drive from Agra to Delhi, speaking of travel experiences, a very 'respectable' man from Singapore, recommended a penis massage in Bangkok, that to while his wife was a seat away with her eyes closed. The life styles in America, Canada, Japan, Singapore, many countries in Europe are parasitical. People go there to have a good life, indulge ! I have lived in London for six months and travelled a bit. Don't use plastic bags, the ads are absent in the UK, one hears more of it her. And plastic bags in abundance whether you go to Asda, Tescos, Spencers, where-ever. I have seen an Asian gentleman, not stoop to bick up a bag of sugar he dropped from the shelf and which had burst. If you are living in the so called "developed" nations, you know what I am talking about. I met an Indian heritage (just 2 generations old) Senator from Malaysia, who got on my goat by continually speaking about corruption and the political system in India. When I suggested that if he felt so strongly about it, based on his experience and that he really cared, he should come too India and do something about it. He shut up ! I say the West is out-sourcing it whores as demand and cost have exceeded supply back home ! So as horrorfying and titillating as this tale is, it happens because of unbrideled indulgence. Whether we turn to the gym or God, it is because the doing has finally caught up with us. We turn to spirituality (help ! help ! Devi Maa !) when the going becomes too tough, and we are unable to carry those 'evil layers of fatty indulgence' any more. India had a system of Devadasis. I think Caraf explains this quite nicely http://www.riveroflife.be/devdasis/ . Let us work on our-selves so that we can become fragrant for others, and show the way. In anguish, Vir Devi Bhakta <devi_bhakta wrote: New Delhi (January 20, 2006): Trafficking in children and women to and from India is now a booming business and, believe it or not, a young woman can be 'bought' for as low as Rs.1,000 (about $20). And in brazen violation of the law, even minor girls are being trafficked, to places as far as the Middle East and the Philippines for prostitution as well as pornography, with the Indian law enforcing agencies looking the other way. These are among the shocking facts revealed in a path-breaking survey by the New Delhi-based Institute of Social Sciences on "Trafficking in Women and Children in India". The victims in the trade are from poor families, some of which are forced to "sell" their women because of grinding poverty, or girls lured to cities often with promises of finding them a place in Bollywood. "Trafficking is, without doubt, a very lucrative business," says the 748-page study, which was sponsored by the National Human Rights Commission and funded by USAID. "It requires a low investment but ensures a high profit." Over a quarter of the 160 traffickers interviewed said they spent less than Rs. 5,000 to procure a girl, and the cheapest price they paid was just Rs. 1,000. In some cases, however, women cost as high as Rs. 90,000 (US $2,038). Women were sourced from within India and from Nepal and Bangladesh. They were supplied within India to Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir as well as Thailand, Kenya, South Africa, Bahrain, Dubai and Oman. The traffickers admitted even sending women to the Gulf, Britain, South Korea and the Philippines for pornographic purposes.
