Guest guest
Namaste- I have found plenty of information regarding tripundra and tilaka as it relates to the Vaisnavas and Saivas, but I was wondering if there was something similar for Shaktas? If this has already been address, just a reference message number is fine. Thanks and Blessings, ~Devi~
Guest guest
yes u seem to know that there is a shakta tilaka. But that is not revealed unless one reaches a certain level. It is not for public consumption. Guest guest
This is according to Wikipedia: "As used by Vaishnavites (Vaishnavas), it is called the urdhva-pundra. It has two vertical lines (sometimes with another intermediate line) variously connected at the bottom, from simple U shape to a form of Tulasi leaf. Shaivites wear it as three horizontal lines (tripundra) and Shaktas as one vertical line or dot. It has a distinguishing, protective and decorative function. The Vasudeva Upanishad gives more detailed information." > > "Devi Spring" <prana_devi > 2006/01/26 Thu PM 05:14:42 EST > > Shakta Tripundra/Tilaka?? > >
