bhAvAbhAvavivarjitA : Devoid of existence and non-existence.

 

BhAva, substance, quality, etc.; abhAva is antecedent non-existence,

etc ( one of the four kinds o fnon-existences]

 

As AbhAva is non-existence it may be said that Devi cannot be said to

be devoid of it. But the holy VyAsa answers this objectiion in the Su-

sam [iV. 2.8-9 ] "Destruction alone remains. for destruction is

the 'non-existence of the existence' and the existence of the non-

existent. The substratum is different from these two, namely existence

and non-existence. The substratum is not destroyed because it is every

real"

BhAva is the existence of the Universe of Name and Form.

 

AbhAva is non-existence.

 

This nama indicates that She is beyond both of these categories.
