Hi Mary Ann -

I hope all is well. The yoga continues on. I'm doing it about twice a

week now. I was surprized to find out that both teachers were teaching

Anasaura [sp?] yoga. How I found out was that both kept discussing

spirals. Neither knew one another which was odd because there are not

that many practitioners here. I went looking for a style of yoga and

it seems to have found me.

When I get stronger and more flexable, I'm planning to go to a

straight up Hatha teacher to try that out. The thing about Anasaura is

that it about the heart which is what I needed. The first time I

heard it pronounced it sounded like "and-my-sorrows." I've had a lot

of sorrows of the heart. LOL Argh!

I was listening to Reginal Rays book on tape about Tantra. He goes

into great detail about Vajrayana and the mahamudra path. There is a

"master" teacher here who is from Tibet teaching mahamudra. There is a

Tibetan group here.

Ray goes into some detail over the abhiskeka inititation. One part of

that involves repeting mantras a lot. He may have said 100,000 times

possibly. My mind says a lot. There is something where a diety is

assigned to you and you imagine yourself as the diety. A big part of

me is not comfortable with that. I really don't want to be anyone or

anything else. I'm sure they are all fine dieties, but it seems

inauthentic to me myself at this point in my life. In other words, I

make a great Eric Otto warts and all, I don't think I would be a

better anything else.

There was a discussion on their website about being a Bodhisattva and

the 37 step [i gather] to become one. I assumed that one was either a

Bodhisattva and it wasn't anything one could aspire to. That might be

my protestant roots showing, or I'm 48. What I mean is that one is

either a Bodhisattva or one isn't. Generally, I just want to be who I

am and don't seem to have desire to be anything else. Life is

complicated enough. I'll leave the upward spiritual mobility to the

young turks.

I'm thinking of going to the group and see if I can meditate with

them. I'm pretty sure I don't want to take on the mantel of another.

Well, that is about all.

Sincerely,

Eric

PS Happy Valentine's Day!
