The Atharva-BrAhmana, says, "Next, therefore, DiksA, from which root diksita is derived..They call the man who is initiated diksita." or, diksitA : she destroys the sin of her disciples by imparting the mantra. The ParAnanda Tr. says, "Out of compassion she imparts [diyate] to her disciples [consequently she destroys [kshiyate] their sings, hence she is called DiksitA" BhAskararAya's Commentary Translated into English by R.
