Guest guest
Thank you Charu and to all new for joining group. I can see that there's a lot of questions being asked. In our enthuasism to know all and immediately, sometimes we tends to get lost and gets diverted from our main focus. Charu asked : 1] What is srividya? Do look at this link : http://www.shaktisadhana.org/Resource/Messageboard/srividya1.html http://www.shaktisadhana.org/Resource/Messageboardmain.html 2] Have never met Ramli but am aware of his work. Do you know him? I do know Ramli Ibrahim but not personally. Have been to his Sutra dance studie several times : attending his performances and bought several paintings from his art gallery, mostly artwork of Oddissi dancers in action. 3] Have been reading your posts on Lalitha A Sahasranama. Have personally never read this work before and it is most enlightening. You may find the answer in this link : http://shaktisadhana.50megs.com/images/Kochu/Lalitasahasranama.html I would suggest new comers to this group to perhaps take time to browse through our homepage, especially on the message board. These are the compilation of all the discussion held in this forum. I hope this helps.
Guest guest
Thanks NMadasamy for sending so much material on Srividya. Would you have any information on Ma Tara and her practise? she is the second of the Dashamahavidyas and my guiding force. I would be very grateful if you posted this. Also, theres worship according to prescribed ritual and text and then straight from the heart with ritual that evolves in the process, sometimes there is a mixture of the two. I firmly believe Ma guides you as she wills. Charu NMadasamy <nmadasamy wrote: Thank you Charu and to all new for joining group. I can see that there's a lot of questions being asked. Guest guest
I did not send those material at all!. They are not mine! They are all there. I am just leading you. The problem is that people do not want to take the time to look for it. They want everything to be presented to them. Like being serve with all the food before them. They are too lazy to actually take the plate, open the pot, dish out the rice or the soup and do it for themselves. These are the trend im seeing. People come here, they always wants the answer. "I want to know about this, please tell me". Some dont even bother to say please. Its is as if its their right to know. Perhaps this the age of information technology have made us to be such. You want to take always but never bother to return back. You wait for others to offer to you first but not the other way round. Now my request is, instead of asking me or us what do we know about Tara Devi, why dont you tell us what do you know about HER! and we shall see where it lead us to!. Perhaps to begin with you mention : She is my guiding force. You like to expand on this? , charu jagat <charu_jagat wrote: > > Thanks NMadasamy for sending so much material on Srividya. The essence of Maa Tara....... is the word Tara Tare Om Tare hmmm she that is Sat Chit Ananda Tare the energy that takes you across her essence lies not in words..... its a prostration.... its a complete giving........... of yourself......... to divinity that is Tare....... One Eternal Neverending that which was Is and will be Om Tare the nature of Tare is in a complete prostration to her...... then the teaching begins......... In all humility, Charu how can I talk of mother? words fail. NMadasamy <nmadasamy wrote: I did not send those material at all!. They are not mine! Guest guest
Namaste Charu. I would not call myself a devotee of Mother Tara, but I have studied a little bit about her. Many of my relatives in Kolkata have visited her temple in Tarapith, one of the Shakti Peethams. What I find most fascinating about Her is presence in both the Shaktaa Hindu and the Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhist traditions. Here are some sites you may find helpful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara_%28Devi%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahavidyas http://www.makalipuja.com/tarapith.html -- -Santo "Aum Shanti Shanti Shantih." Guest guest
Dear Shanto Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha Have followed Mother through Hinduism and Buddhism, my initiation happened in Sikkim. There is only one Devi----Ma she has many names and forms and all religions have known her openly or silently. Charu Santo Sengupta <s.santo.sengupta wrote: Namaste Charu. Guest guest
Namaste Charu: While I agree with your sentiment, we must also acknowledge how important individual paths and techniques are. My initiation happened in Barasat, and my Ishta-Devata is Mother Durga, and to a lesser extent, Her family. I have taken great inspiration from the works of Sri Aurobindo and Swami Vivekananda. Both have proclaimed the reawakening of The Mother. I even see it happening, however slowly, in Christianity with their rediscovery of Marian theology. (IMHO, the Holy Spirit of the Trinity has *always* been Feminine, merely covered up and glossed over by the Church) -- -Santo "Aum Shanti Shanti Shantih." Guest guest
Dear Santo, There is no disagreement here, every individual path is different and perfect as decreed by Ma herself. As for techniques we need them till we need them. I have been initiated into both the practise of Ma Tara and Ma Durga and they inter-twine. Guest guest
Just look the response you have received from others! charu_jagat wrote: Sorry for making you mad! I am not mad/angry. I just go into this senile state sometimes. As you are aware as women we have this "moods". Our mood fluctuates like the stock market. So do not be dishearten with me. Ignore me if you must. I will get back to my old self. "there is always a giving and a taking thats what an exchange is.." In theory it is possible. This giving and taking. But in real life its not like that. A lot of time there are taking and felt no obligation to return. Aren't you not told, what you learn in school may not be applicable in the real world. "but the leader is always Maa.." We are the DEVI and therefore we are the leader that set the course of action. "The essence of Maa Tara.......is the word Tara ...Tare Om Tare hmmm she that is Sat-Chit-Ananda. In all humility, Charu. How can I talk of mother? words fail. And how can you not talk about HER? If she is your guiding force? >From those verse Ive read, it shows you really know abt Tara, and yet you choose to ask others about her! Dont you trust your own? Look this is how I see. When I am in love with somebody, I rather discover about my lover[ her/his character or attributes] on my own instead of seeking the information from others. Why should I listen to what others think of her. Some will say : she is such a horrible person. Another say, she is the most divine being ever alive in this planet. Who would you listen to? How do you discover about your lover? Can you find out abt her/him all within one day? No you cant. It takes a life time or maybe many lifetime. I am married to a person im madly in love with, and after more than 20 yrs together, I cant really say I know my husband. Can anyone say: Ive worship Devi for more than 30 yrs, and I have known HER? Your Tara and Richard Tara will be different. SHE manifest to others differently depending on the mode of the spiritualist. So should you not concentrate on the Tara as you know her and let her manifest to you as she want you to to see HER. So instead of going around asking : can you tell me about Tara/Taraini, perhaps the correct should be : is there other sadhana that can bring me closer to my Tara. Because our devotion to the Devine is special and personal. How Tara is to you is between you and HER, and not what others think of HER. But if you still think what others think of her is very important, perhaps you want to read from scholarly approach, works written by the likes of David Kinsley. or by Ramprasad : the tantric hyms of enlightment. Many references attribute to Tara. In Ramprasad poems he uses Kali and Tara almost like an identical. It is said, if Kali is destruction, Tara is the fire that destruct. In one image you see Tara dancing pot bellied. What is she carrying in her belly? The world about to be delivered, some scholars said. In my opinion, it is us that is in HER belly, waiting for the right moment to be delivered into this world or state of realization. Tara is also said to be the boat that ferry us to the jewel island where Devi lalitha resides.
