gurumandalarUpini : In the company of spiritual teachers.

 

This name indicates that the determination of the nature of that must

be ascertain from the teacher alone, because it is most secret.

 

Gurus, from Paramasiva to one's own teacher, mandala, the regular

succession [ of them ]. The meaning is that this secret was handed

down uninterruptedly from teacher to pupil and was not written in

books. Hence it is said in the Yoginthrdaya [i.3]:"Into this world

[this secret] was handed down from ear to ear]

She is the unbroken line of Gurus, or Masters, from Parama-Siva to

one's own human Guru, who imparts the Sampradaya or traditional

wisdom.

 

The first Guru is Parama-Siva, whose disciples are the Trimurthis --

Brahma, Visnu and Rudra, who are called Divyaugha. Their disciples

are Vasistha, Sanaka and Sanandana, who are called Siddhaugha. In

turn, their disciples are VyAsa to one's own Guru.

 

The stream of traditional wisdom flows through these great masters in

an unbroken succession, from Guru to disciple, from time immemorial.

She is Herself that succession.
