I try to take control but keep slipping. Recently I did the first two levels Reiki, which is good. I know some of my earlier posts have been pretty harsh, and I feel bad/sad about that. I am sorry. Guest guest
Hi Red Look up reiki in wikipedia. u get some interesting things including a statement that reiki has at best a plcebo effect. This is not a comment I am making. I quote below a mantra from Yajur veda which occurs also in Atharva. "Ayam me hasto bhagawan, ayam me bhagawattarah; ayam me vishwabheshajah, ayam shivaabhimarshanah;...praanaanaam granthih asi rudro maa visha antakah..." Broad meaning of this mantra is: This hand of mine is godlike; this hand is the universal healer; this is aspected by shiva....hey rudra, (thou) art the convergence of all pranas; hey, antaka, enter me... Om Namas Tripurasundari. Vir Rawlley <redderred wrote: Dear All, I too have been, and still am, in a roller-coater of emotions. It happens to me, a mn too. I try to take control but keep slipping. Guest guest
I do not to the statement that reiki has onl placebo effect. I am now treating a lady with keloid from an open heart operation and was 25 years old. Now in 5 days the color has changed and is almost natural skin color and it has sbstantially flattened. i expect it to go in 3 weeks. Can any placebo do it? Guest guest
I recall that when I last had the honor of personally meeting with Guruji Amrita, he happened to be intently studying Reiki -- a well- used copy of a Reiki reference text was usually by his side -- and was interested in exploring its application to Srividya practice. I would also note that, like so many Eastern disciplines, Reiki ultimately finds its roots in India. In that sense, those such as Amrita (and Kochu, I must add, who is a second-degree Reiki) are simply bringing an integral art back home. With regard to Wikipedia, I would simply remind Radhakrishnan and others that this particular resource is only as good as it contributors. If anyone knowledgeable on the subject wishes to address the "placebo effect" accusations authoritatively at Wikipedia, their effort would become part of the article. I would think this would be a welcome development, and it's that kind of interactive development that gives Wikipedia such a unique and powerful potential as an elementary research tool. Guest guest
Namaste. I do not know the truth about Reiki or Chakras or the like. On one hand I would very much like to believe in them. On the other hand, I have been brought up a scientist and a skeptic. However, I would like to say a few things.. About Wikipedia: Wikipedia is truly open source, and allows anyone to edit anything, but keeps previous version of the same page handy so future editors can see what has been altered. This transparency is good in many ways, but it always allows for detractors to have their say. So yes, Reiki have many people who believe it's a scam. But most pages on Wikipedia on even faintly controversial topics have a "Controversy" section in which these things like this are discussed. I think knowing the weaknesses of any particular viewpoint actually makes it much more useful. About the Placebo effect: I am currently studying psychology. I've been learning a lot about this placebo effect. Did you know that it is usually as high as 30-35%? That's *huge*. Most treatments/medications only have a 50-80% effectiveness. To find the real effect one must first subtract the placebo effect from your figures. The fact is that the connection between the mind and body is so powerful that for 1 out of 3 people can improve merely by the power of belief. Western science has determined this factor to be a "scientific error", a mere foolishness of human behavior. Eastern science and tradition will show us how truly powerful our minds can be. There are many scientists studying the mechanisms behind this Placebo effect, and the neuroscience behind Meditation. Expect to see some big breakthroughs in the next decade. -- -Santo "Aum Shanti Shanti Shantih." Guest guest
How can there be offence ! A rather extreme parallel example, but it shows how even a so misunderstood 'negative' is actually a God send. This Saint (i forget his name, sorry Mahatma) in Benaras, is spat upon many times by a person from te priestly caste, and each time the Saint retraces his steps down to the river and bathes. Finally the Brahmin falls at the Sain's feet and aplogises. The Saint blesses and thanks him for having provided so many opportunities to bathe in the sacred river Ganga.
