Guest guest
A true "siddha" won't give a mantra thru the internet or a postal letter. How could they even if they wanted to? I mantra is sound and must be blown into the disciple's ear. Mantras are like precious jewels. A true possessor of an active mantra won't just throw them into the street. - mahahradanatha Thursday, March 02, 2006 5:16 AM Re: Vikrant list of questions , Vikrant <Vikrant wrote: > > > 1] Mantra over the net > > will a mantra given(over the internet or thru postal letter) by a siddh person work for the person who receives the mantra ?.. > i am refering to situation where the person receiving the mantra is strictly following the directions of using the mantra as per the guru's instructions... Guest guest
This statement is, I think, generally correct -- but possibly a little too broad. *** A true "siddha" won't give a mantra thru the internet or a postal letter. How could they even if they wanted to? I mantra is sound and must be blown into the disciple's ear. *** I agree, re: the postal letter. However, what about an mp3 or other sound file, specifically intended (my point being that "INTENT" is the other key at work here) by the Guru for the shishya? Maybe I am splittig hairs, though. There is certainly no transmission without sound, and I would argue sound + intent. But perhaps a third requirement would be a pre-established personal contact -- in other words, once a connection is established between Guru and shishya in person, I imagine the Guru would be able to use that Bridge at will, and the Internet or telephone could be an aid. Obviously, this is not a substitute for the traditional transmission from Guru's lips to shishya's ears. But in a pinch, where there is Will and Intent on the part of both Guru and shishya, this could be done at least as a temporary matter (I am thinking, say, of a shishya in one country and a guru in another; the shishya meets a crisis situation which requires use of a new mantra -- but s/he will not see the Guru in person for, say, a year. In such a case could not the guru and shishya surely arrange something?) *** Mantras are like precious jewels. A true possessor of an active mantra won't just throw them into the street. *** Obviously, this is not the scenario I describe. *** mahahradanatha wrote: What are the instructions: Insert your wallet in drive a and press any key to empty? *** *lol* I am also not referring to "buy a mantra over the Internet" schemes, which are (I would suggest) always a bad idea. Guest guest
Yes I would agree that sound and intent, and I would even go so far as to say contact as well, though this can take many forms. Mp3s? I would say no, but as a preliminary step before physical diksha...maybe. Guest guest
The relationship between Guru and the shishya is way beyond the physical form. You do not need a physical diksha from your guru to get one. How many stories are being told about the ability of the guru to travel to the shishya's home or to whatever she/he may be to help them in their sadhana. The same, weather its in Mp3s format or through the whisper in the ears, it is possible. Are you doubting the ability of the guru? , "Mahamuni" <mahamuni wrote: > > Yes I would agree that sound and intent, and I would even go so far as to say contact as well, though this can take many forms. > > Mp3s? Guest guest
Hi Charu, To an extent I see this too, but through the angle of intent and motivation t perform these 'acts' - wholesome or unwholesome. More importantly, we are all Devi and every thing happens as per the play of our sweet Devi, so bending the universe to ones will is Love, the agony and extasy ;-) :-), the perfection of imperfection, as Osho says, the pathless path. Guest guest
Thanks for this Nora; it seems correct to me. That was the reason for my stress on the INTENT and WILL of the Guru (and shishya) over the mere physical form of the medium thru which the communication is made. Otherwise, yes, we once again fall into the all-too-human trap of trying to place limits on the illimitable. Guest guest
Yes, subtle initiation stories are there, which is why I said contact can take many forms. But Mp3s are a bit of a stretch for me.
