Guest guest
Hey Group, Can somebody tell me the whole purpose of a yantra. Does it help you to concentrate on a specific deity? What is the purpose of it? How is it used? Etc... -Lawrence
Guest guest
Dear Lawrence, I am not as highly knowledged as many of the other members to answer your question, but I did manage to do some research on the purpose of yantras. I''ve found a website that lists the purpose of every type of yantra. Here's the link - http://www.indiavisitinformation.com/indian-astrology/yantra-shop.shtml. I hope this helps you Om Shantih Ambika (holydiscoveries) Photos – NEW, now offering a quality print service from just 8p a photo.
Guest guest
HARI OM..... I am not as highly learned as some other members, but I can add my humble 2 cents or rupees if I may. A YANTRA in Sanskrit roughly means "machine" or "loom". It is an apparatus that is the physical manifestation of a MANTRA and the Deity, God or Goddess, who expresses him or herself through that particular mantra. All DEITIES, GODS, & GODDESSES, have a mantra, and all mantras have a YANTRA. Thus, all deities, Gods & Goddesses have a YANTRA. Basically a YANTRA works as a device to concentrate the energy of a particluar deity who is being propitiated through mantra or prayer. Your mantra-prayers go into the ether to whatever deity you are propitiating and it then bounces to that particular yantra (mainly the center BINDU point where the deity is said to reside) that has been activated by certain seed syllables thru the mantras meant for that particular deity. The concentrated energy from the YANTRA-DEITY then goes to you or whomever it is meant for (in the case of VASHIKARAN) , to manifest the purpose of the mantra & yantra. A rule of thumb is, if one has many yantras, a SRI YANTRA (considered the king of Yantras) is supposed to always be kept in the center. Also, remember that all deities are contained within a SRI YANTRA, and that ALL MANTRAS CAN work on a Sri Yantra. It is just that it will either work fully or partially, as the Sri Yantra works at its greatest & fullest capacity with the SRI DEVI KHADGAMALA STOTRAM & SRI LALITHA SAHASRANAMAM. The reason being is because in Sri Vidya Sadhana, those mantras progressively go round and round each enclosure of the SRI CHAKRA until the BINDU or point is progressively reached at the end of those 2 chants If one was to use a Sri Yantra for say a Hanuman Sadhana, it could be somewhat effective, but not to its fullest capacity. To our highly esteemd members: If I have missed or omitted any salient points or information, please pardon me, and feel free to correct what I have said.
