Guest guest
Dear Members of SS, 1st of all it is really a pleasure to be a part of SS. I thank the moderater and all of you for the knowledge shared on this portal. 2ndly I was sitting with my Guru the day before yesterday and mentioned that I was a member in this wonderful group where so many devotees of the Goddess come together and share knowledge. He asked me, "so you will you get the answers to any sort of queries on the Goddess?" I said, "yes, there are people who are highly knowledgable here". He then asked me to post a question - "Does the Goddess have menstrual cycles? if yes or no, then what are the sources that have mentioned the same" I asked- " ok I will, but please tell me the answer yourself first". He said with that typical 'Guru smile' which many of you would have expreinced with your Gurus- " bring a printout of all the postings and then I will share my answer with all and also give them my appreciation for the forum" So dear all, awaiting your responses. Guest guest
There are as many devis as there are sadhaks. Ask your Guru which Goddess is he speaking of. If it is his Goddess I know ot. If it is mine, she does regularly and no surgical intervention has been necessary to correct the cycle. Can you tell this to your Guru and you can even send me the reply in private if you do not want to post the reply in public. Guest guest
Dear Jayanth, I can probably get you the answer. But before that there is another million dollar question. How would the answer to this quesiton help me in my quest of Truth.? What is the relevance of this question in this (spiritual) world ? Thanks Deep > > > > -- In , "jayanth_garakahalli" > > <jayanth_garakahalli@> wrote: > > > > > > Dear Members of SS, > > > > > > 1st of all it is really a pleasure to be a part of SS. Guest guest
Dear Deep, It is definitely wonderful if you have the answer. Can only request you to share it. I also understand that in this (spiritual) world any question will lead to another question and will boil down to 'aham kim?' Who am I? which is considered as the question of questions. That way any question has a relevence. But, it is definitly amazing to see the replies where so many people think in so many different ways and every answer has its own relevence in turn to lead to a different question. When asked which devi you are speaking of, he said "a rose is beautiful and has many petals/thorns. Each petal and thorn together bring the beauty of the rose. If I ask you where is the beauty of the rose coming from? would you ask which petal are you asking about?' My interpretation is he is asking about the the very concept of the Goddess. Guest guest
Hi Charu, U haven't got the point correctly. This was asked not becoz he is unaware of the answer. And for any question there cannot be one single right answer . It is our perception of looking at it, that comes forward. If all questions were to be asked to the Goddess directly, what is the necessity of a forum where we share knowledge? And also Goddess anwers through people like u and me. Just think about it before laughing it off as leela. Becoz every leela has a purpose behind it. One of it is to acquire knowledge. Thanks a lot, Jayanth -- In , charu jagat <charu_jagat wrote: > > This is the pits of all question! hahaha! why does your Guru not ask the G'ss herself? Guest guest
You don't seem to have understood my statement. I said "There are as many devis as there are sadhaks" bercause each Devi to whom an upasaka is attached is special to THAT sadhaka. Though ultimately all powers west in Adi Paraashakti, the same adi parashakti when prayed to by a sadhaka manifests a form that is SPECIAL to that sadhaka. That i think answers your interpretation "My interpretation is he is asking about the the very concept of the Goddess.". Guest guest
ok. So you mean the answer to the original question of " Does Goddess have menstrual cycles?" is "it depends on who the Sadhaka is"? Guest guest
Jayanth, there is no right or wrong, no correct view or false, all emerges from the ground. I responded spontaneously, as words welled up. Charu jayanth_garakahalli <jayanth_garakahalli wrote: Hi Charu, U haven't got the point correctly. This was asked not becoz he is unaware of the answer. If all questions were to be asked to the Goddess directly, what is the necessity of a forum where we share knowledge? And also Goddess anwers through people like u and me. Just think about it before laughing it off as leela. Becoz every leela has a purpose behind it. One of it is to acquire knowledge. Guest guest
Namaste "A rose by any other name is still a rose"...Williamm Shakespeare And a rose is still a rose whether it has thorns or not (some roses don't have thorns), whether it has great beauty but no fragrance, or whether it has just 6 petals and a scent that fills a whole house let alone the room it is in.... It is a Rose. If one "type" appeals to you, you will think it is the only one...till you discover another and another..and finally well...there are lots n lots but still classification: "Rose". Which will appeal to you or draw you will depend upon your attributes not the rose's... Ummm...also..a rose growning in a particular environment will show an attribute it may not show grown in another....this could also translate to each individual's devotion to Her... As for where the beauty of the rose comes from...well...I think it was still our Wills Shakespeare who said... "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" So maybe the "concept" of the Goddess is wholly dependent upon your conceptual perception and where your devotion to Her leads you... Maybe if we can answer.."what is the basic concept of a rose?" This other question will be easier... Hey!! Maybe we could also discuss if William Shakespeare was a Shakta without realising it??!! Sorry... kind regards her_asha -- In , "jayanth_garakahalli" <jayanth_garakahalli wrote: > > Dear Kochu, > > > I had called the Guru and gave him an overview of the responses > coming in. Guest guest
Namaste: I tend to espouse a fairly Advaitic view of the Devi, so here is my reply to the question. Yes, of course the Goddess has Menstrual Cycles. She is *all* Cycles, all life, all experience. She is Mahamaya, everything we can possibly hope to experience. Though all women are made in Her Image, we men are too made by Her, and She pervades all existence. As some have said, there are places, yoni peethas, like blessed Kamakhya in Assam, where the Goddess is worshipped in that form. Much of the time this question is asked, it us out of disgust or negative emotions. We attach such stigmas and taboos to menstruation and birth in our culture, and we reflect these onto our spiritual life. Jai Maa. -- -Santo "Aum Shanti Shanti Shantih." Guest guest
Dear jayant, I have a big short comming and that is I cant make politically correct statement but then I can't take them either. You have very nicely skipped my question and brought me back to your ground. Let me put it this way... Let me try to summarise what I had said in my previous email A) I said I can probalby get you the answer, that doesnt mean I know it right now. I have no hesitation in accepting what I dont know. Heck no one knows everything in this world (off course there are some exceptions ) B) But then if I have invest some time in it, I want to know why I want to do that. I am short on time. It has never been on my side... Hence if you started this question and cant prove why it is imp for me it wouldnt go anywhere. C) Please dont take everything to the one question question? Who am i? At least as of now I cant see it related to your quesiton. Feel free to enlightment me and be a little detailed. Now I was trying to analyse why you took the liberty to start this thread. If I type all the things it would be a very long email, I will try to summarise A) if you know the answer and wnated to just share you email would have "I know this and wanted to share with every one" B) Now I know sometimes guru's do special things which are beyond my comprehension but still its kind of interesting that your guru is kind of wanting to challange us, or trying to find out knowledge level of poeple on this list. Again my old question, what would be he get out of it. Why would he want to do that.? Posslily to establish his and/or yours supremacy. Again if that thats the case I will drop out of discussion. C) Well I can go on and on .. but then again time is short. But I do appreciate that you took the time to answeres all the people question.. interesting. very interesting. This means A) either the answer to this question is not know to a lot of time and hence you are enjoying the confustion B) or the answere will help us all evolve us all.. Hence I will be waiting for a detailed explanation from you as to why at least myself needs to know the answere to this quesiton. What will it get me.? Thanks and Regards Dp PS I didnt mean to dis-respect any Guru. What I have learned from both of my masters that if there is a debate there is no one younger and no one is older. Its just a debate and you can always put your point, off course with respect... Har Har Mahadev. Guest guest
It seems to me there's a kind of lovely e-group serendipity at work here.... Sometimes even an odd or awkward question (not saying that this one was either) will elicit an amazing gem of a response. Thank you and bless you, gentlemen! Guest guest
Ok im serious mood today. No clowning around!! I like to share my conversation with my guru looooooooooong time ago. NM is me, GU is my Guru.[This conversation is a repost] NM : During my earlier days in nursing, I have this tendency that once I put on the nursing uniform, Nora ceases to exist. A new identity is born. and I became a very different person. Do you consider that as Bhootasuddhi? I am trying to connect this. GU : That is not Bhootasuddhi. It is called Taadaatmya. Its being one with the role you are playing. NM : It is a wonderful feeling. I sense freedom. No boundaries. I am not bounded with any religious or political affliations, but what I represent : The Nurse. GU : When you sit for Japa, you ARE Devi. It must become an enjoyable experience. So lets rationalise all this after reading the above conversation. You see in my spiritual practice [ read the word MY and not others bec there are many and each have their own distinctive features], we do not have any troubles with menstruation. Im being told you can still do your pooja as per normal even if ure having your menses. So we do not see the fuss. Thus when it is said :"when you sit for Japa, you ARE devi", When im having my menses, sitting down for pooja and doing Japa, Devi too having menses. yes! How can it not? Guest guest
Now lets go back to Jayanth original statement : Jeyanth wrote : 2ndly I was sitting with my Guru the day before yesterday and mentioned that I was a member in this wonderful group where so many devotees of the Goddess come together and share knowledge. He said with that typical 'Guru smile' which many of you would have exprience with your Gurus- " bring a printout of all the postings and then I will share my answer with all and also give them my appreciation for the forum" I see something when I first read this statement. And I personally belief this all is meant for Jeyanth and not for us. We never admit being "highly knowledeable" and we never admit being able to give all the answers to any sort of queries on the Goddess. Its Jeyanth own interpretation or I would say assumption. His Guru is trying to tell him something through us. His Guru knows who we are, and he wants Jeyanth to learn from experience. He could have easily give Jeyath the answers, why didnt he? My question for Jeyanth is : so what have you learn from this experience? , "Dhirendra Pal Singh" <dpal.singh wrote: > > Dear jayant,I have a big short comming and that is I cant make politically correct statement but then I can't take them either.
