[750] Mahesvari

[751] MahAkAli : MahA, great, KAli : fate. She is called great

because she rules over even death. The MahAkAli is the deity

worshipped at Ujjayani, or she is the wife of MahAkAla.

BhAskararAya's Commentary

Translated into English by R. Ananthakrishna Sastry.

[NOTE: From this name down to name 756, Her fierce form is

described.]

[750] Mahesvari: The Great Ruler.

[751] MahAkAlI: She is the wife of MahA-KAla, who is Siva. She is

known as MahA-KAlI because She destroys even death.
