Guest guest
candamundAsuranisUdinI : Destroyer of daityas, Canda and Munda. Hence she alone is to be called CAmundA. The Mark. Pr says, "Because you captured the daityas, Canda, and Munda, you shall be called CAmundA", But the VarAha Pr. says, "Devi struck the daityas, Ruru, with her trident and cut off his head and because she carried off the head [munda] and trunk [carman] she is called CAmundA". We find also in the [Amara-] Kosa [v. 44] "Karnamoti is called CAmundA, Carcika and CarmamundA". BhAskararAya's Commentary Translated into English by R. Ananthakrishna Sastry.
