Guest guest
SPIRITUALITY AND MANAGEMENT DR. KARAN SINGH as interviewed by pradeep nambiar for sanskar tv 09321027318 “A leader has to have a vision that sees beyond the immediate into the future, a voice that touches the heart of his listeners, and a personality fused with compassion for humanity. What is the purpose of life? There are four purusharthas 1] Dharma- our ethical and moral foundation 2] Arth- creation of wealth, concentration and creation under the ambit of Dharma 3] Kama – Kama is as essential as the other three but again guided by dharma. 4] Moksha- liberation, but death is not liberation. We have to seek liberation in our life time. In other words, seek immediately. How does the youth identify their Swadharma? The work that one is best qualified for. That work that one enjoys doing. That work, done with dedication and devotion to the divine . Offering the work, done to one’s best ability, at the feet of divine. What is success in life? Success has multiple parameters. Financial, emotional, there has to be a happiness index. That happiness has to be continuous and integrated. Life is more than mere figures and statistics. Purusharth is continuous personal striving, mental as well as physical. By personal striving one moves ahead in life, meeting personal challenges, not cowed down by Prarabdh or circumstances. What are failures in life? Failures are meant to overcome . Our Upanishads says “ awaken , arise and move towards your goal, it is a razor edged path”. The Bhagavad-Gita says “no effort is wasted in the spiritual path”. No hostile forces can eternally last. Even if you fail, believe it to be a blessing in disguise, destiny is showing you a new path to be followed. Who is the best leader? I have been inspired by a verse by Iqbal, the poet, “A leader has to have a vision that sees beyond the immediate into the future, a voice that touches the heart of his listeners, and by a personality fused with compassion for humanity”. I have been spiritually influenced by Lord Shiva, Vivekananda and Aurobindo. Intellectual quest have been fulfilled by late Jawaharlal Nehruji and Dr. Radhakrishnan . Bhagavad-Gita and modern management? Karma Yoga – the theory of correct action. Everything you do, should be very efficiently done, clear and well completed. It should be an offering to the Divine. Everything you do, be detached from it. Commitment without obsession and involvement without attachment. Develop your Sadhana according to your Sanskar. Enter the path and stream of spiritual quest. What is surrender, message to the youth? Surrender is when you put your individual ego aside and surrender to the divine within you. The Lord says “ I will save you from all sins, I am seated in the depths of your consciousness. Everything else - wealth, fame, position – will all evaporate like dew under the morning sun”. you have to merge human consciousness with plans of divine evolution, you have to cooperate with evolution.
