Guest guest
Symptoms of Samadhi It has been said that the evidence of, the symptom of samadhi is the perpetual bliss and sweetness of all perceptions afterwards. What other symptoms are there of samadhi, what other evidences, internal or external, are there that samadhi has been experienced? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When all the vrttis[sentiments] of the citta[mind] are focused on a single point it is termed the state of concentration (eka'grabhu'mi). This, however exhalted, is not the ultimate state. The ultimate state is reached when the mind transcends all citta-vrttis (mental propensities) and merges in the object of contemplation (dhyeya). To reach that ultimate state one has to pass through the four stages of pratya'ha'ra yoga: yatama'na, vya'tireka, ekendriya and vashiika'ra. You can look at Patanjali sutras for a start. Samadhis result from the rising of Shakti and lead to various visionary and celestial experiences. Symptoms such as stopping of the breath, slowing of respiration, etc. differ according to people and the state. The highest Samadhi is only the Self, Being. Pure Sat-Chit-Ananda. The different Samadhis can only be understood through practice and experience. Harsha "Love itself is the actual form of God." Guest guest
Read the Parmahansa's ------ The Great Swan, I think every evidence of the state of Samadhi you'll find there. Read the Parmahansa's poetry, his verses to Maa Kali.......they are steeped in the ambrosia that only one who has taken a dip in samadhi can know. Guest guest
Thank you, Tarini, I'll make a point of picking it up. Rather than "by" Paramahansa, isn't it 'about' him, written by Lex Hixon? Great Swan: Meetings with Ramakrishna by Lex Hixon Is this what you are referring to? Love itself is the actual form of god. More than just one of several emotions, the essence of love and its most attractive vitality is that love is the homeostasis of the whole universe, intrinsic in and of each and every thing. Witness the singular essence manifest in many forms, conjugate this ecstasy in the sublime kiss of mutual surrender, let Ishvara capture and renew you wholly in this loving embrace that's always held you close to its heart, your heart, ever patiently, abidingly.
