Guest guest
Prati Paksha Bhavana and Vasana Kshayam (Part 1 of 4) - The transcript of the speech given by Guruji in Devipuram on 1.4.2006 Question: "Prati paksha Bhavana (Counteracting a thought with another)" - what is that Guruji? What is Vasana Kshayam – the destruction of the latent impressions? How are they related? Guruji: It is doing, whatever comes, oppose it. You cannot read these things in isolation. It should follow certain sequence. What is predecessor, what is going to come after that and what is Vasana Kshayam? Why is that necessary? These things have to be understood in totality and they should not be understood in isolation. Vasana kshayam - does not happen by replacing bad thoughts with good thoughts. Vasana means all kinds of thoughts, good and bad and indifference. The moment you start classifying something, your naming them becomes attachment. Attachments are not reduced by conversion of one to the other. You are attached to the bad by hatred and good by wanting it, then where is good and bad gone? In nature's laws, there is no good and bad. It is just the law. Good and bad are human judgments. They are not nature's judgment. It is indifferent to good and bad. If the Vasanas are deleted, how can you recognize anything? You can't even recognize whether you got samadhi or not. Mano nasham or Buddhi nasham - It is there. Buddhi is part of Manas is it not? Buddhi is also gone. There is no mind. How is it different from anesthesia? How is it different from death? There is no mind to see, no mind to recognize. What is there? Is it shoonyam? You want to become nothing? Is that the goal? Is death the goal? So, if killing is bad, I'd say killing the mind is also bad. If you say killing the body is bad, killing the mind is also bad. If you convert a person to a vegetable, is it good or bad? He becomes incapable of thinking and incapable of anything. Is that what we want? Is that the goal? What is the goal we're seeking? We're seeking emptiness or fullness? As long as you're having thoughts, the Vasana kshayam is not there. Whether they are good thoughts, cosmic thoughts, big thoughts, powerful or powerless thoughts, you're still having Vasana. Even your having cosmic explosion of knowledge into you also is Vasana. So, Vasana kshayam means a total cessation of all thoughts and experiences. Is that the goal? Should that be the goal. Nothing is there, is Fallacy. Flowing experiences could not be there. Could there be non-flowing experiences and Timeless experiences? Could there be or could there not be? I think I've given the example of a book scanned by the time line right? If the time is not flowing, the book is not born, it is not flowing and it is not dead. It is there. It is not there. It is there in certain domain of space and time and it is not there in another space and time. You draw a circle. It is there certain space and time and it is not there in certain space and time. But the space and time and the object are still there whether the time is flowing or not. So obviously, there is an experience, but not in the way know. So Vasana kshayam means you try to stop the mind from moving, or stop the time. So, thoughts are in the mind. So you are trying to stop the thoughts. It is basically stopping the time from flowing. Then, is the world there or not? The experience of the world is there. But it is not in the way that we know. It is not the way when the time is flowing. You're seeing it all the time. Every part of the space and time is seen.
