Guest guest
Prati Paksha Bhavana and Vasana Kshayam (Part 2 of 4) - The transcript of the speech given by Guruji in Devipuram on 1.4.2006 It is not "nothing". It is totality. How can totality be none? So, the sutra if at all, it must mean, you stop thinking. What he is saying is, there is a wave (a sine wave). Let it be a thought. You add to it, another thought which is an opposite sine wave. Net is zero thought. Thought, in order to exist must move in time. Basically what you are saying is we're trying to counter the movement in time. So, that means, you are trying to gain a timeless experience. So, there can be no action in that. Action belongs to the realm of time. Action happens in time. If something moves, action can be there. If something does not move, what action can be there? So, both killing and giving birth are actions. Both good and bad actions are actions. When nothing is moving, nothing is changing, what good can be there, what bad can be there. So nature is invariant to the way the time flows. It does not change with the time. The Mula Prakriti is invariant. The Prakriti is variant. There are two kinds of variants, co variants and contra variants based on whether it goes in the same direction or moving in the opposite direction as the movement of time. Both possibilities exist, both covariant and contra variants with respect of time. So, the sutra must mean the cessation of time is the aim, not the mind. The fullness is the aim, not the destruction. It does not say Mano Nasham. But Vasana Nasham. What is Vasana actually? Vasana is the course of memory. That means you remember something and then it moves. You're going through the story of that memory. That is called Vasana. An incident has happened, you remember it. You remember that sequence. How to explain Vasana? You tie a piece of hing (asafetida) to a cloth. Take away the hing, but still the cloth smells of that. That is Vasana. There is an incident of something happened. It get stored in your brain. Your mind replays it. That means the memory is replayed. The memory is not washed out, it is not erased. It is not shift-delete. It is there in recycle bin. You can access it in the normal way if you want to. Nothing is ever destroyed, because, there is no destruction. There is no birth also. You cannot destroy nor can you create. Everything is there all the time. It is all there in the recycle bin. We're only looking at a certain part of recycle bin. So memory is not destroyed; memory of God is perfect. What we're destroying is the movement of time. A particular view of that is what we are trying to destroy. That is what should be Vasana Kshayam. It is not Mano Nasham. It is Vasana Nasham. In that, good goes, bad goes. So good is replaced by bad, bad is replaced by good. Not replaced by, but countered by. Prati Paksha Bhavana - that means, the wave is there. Imagine a counter wave. Effect of the waves is null. You can say that your mind is enclosed in two shutters. It goes from here to there, comes back, reflected there, reflected there and oscillates between the two. Then it collapses. Then, there is no oscillation. Mind remains still. Stillness of the mind is what they are referring to. Not the destruction of the mind. When the mind is still, you're moving from individual mind that can be stilled. The universal mind is super set of everything. The way to enter that is not through time, when the time is moving, you cannot enter into universal mind. You've to enter it only when the time is not moving. IN that sense you can try to under prati paksha bhavana. It is Vasana kshayam and is not mano layam. Mind is individual memory. The individual memory is replaced with universal memory. Imagine, you format your disk. All the memory is erased, all the programs are lost. All lives are lost. That is Shoonya. Is that the aim? That is not the aim and that cannot be the aim. You cannot destroy God. God is this world. If you destroy the world, the God also dies. Why do you say that the God is not the world? How do you reduce the intensity of something? By putting a counter wave, make the amplitude zero. That is what it must mean; because all waves are thoughts right? If thoughtless must be there, there should be no waves. So, how do you kill a wave? By creating a counter wave. That must be Prati Paksha Bhavana.
